The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has reaffirmed its growing clout in student politics with a clean sweep in the student union elections at Mangalore University College, Hampanakatte, winning all six seats. Calling it a “historic mandate,” ABVP credited its victory to student-centric campaigns that focused on academic issues, campus development, and student welfare.
The Mangaluru triumph adds to ABVP’s recent winning streak across major universities. Earlier this month, the organisation dominated the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, securing three of the four central panel posts.
Similarly, on September 19 at the University of Hyderabad (HCU), ABVP registered another landslide, bagging all six major positions in the student union:
- President: PhD scholar Siva Palepu
- Vice-President: Debendra
- General Secretary: Shruti Priya
- Joint Secretary: Saurabh Shukla
- Cultural Secretary: Venus
- Sports Secretary: Jwala
With victories in Delhi, Hyderabad, and now Mangaluru, ABVP leaders say the momentum reflects a nationwide surge in support for their student activism model.
