New Delhi/Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 26 inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojna of Bihar government. The Prime Minister joined the event via video conferencing and transferred Rs 7500 crore to 75 lakh women residents of the state. The event related to the launch of the ambitious scheme of the state’s NDA government was held in state capital Patna.
The PM on the occasion stated that the Union Government and the Bihar government are working for service, self-respect and prosperity of the women in the state.
PM Modi praises the initiative taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said the scheme is a bold and significant step for sisters and daughters of Bihar. The PM stressed that when any sister or daughter engages in employment or self-employment, her dreams gain new wings, and her respect in society increases even more.
The Prime Minister during the program also interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme. The PM said that he is very happy to see the vision of the scheme as it includes one woman from every family. He noted that a brother feels happy when he sees her sister is happy and financially strong.
“A brother feels happy when his sister is healthy, happy, and her family is financially strong, and for this, the brother does whatever is needed. Today, your two brothers Narendra and Nitish ji are working together tirelessly for your service, prosperity and your self-respect. Today’s work is also an example of this. When I was told about this scheme, I was very happy to see its vision. One woman from every family will definitely get the benefit of this scheme,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi said that the scheme started by the NDA government in Bihar has also given new strengths to the Union Government’s ‘Lakhpati Didi Campaign’. He underscored that the Union Government has set a target of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis in the country and there are already 2 crore Lakhpati Didis. He stated that the hard work of these sisters have changed the villages, society and the status of their families.
The PM on the occasion also trained guns on the opposition, alleging that women suffered the most during the previous regime. The PM said that due to poor infrastructure pregnant women were not able to reach hospitals on time. The PM highlighted that the double engine government of Bihar has focused extensively on the infrastructure development in the state.
“Today, our daughters are flying fighter planes. But we must not forget the days when the RJD was in power in Bihar. It was the rule of the lantern. During that time, the mothers, sisters, and women of Bihar bore the brunt of lawlessness and corruption. Back then, when major roads in Bihar were in ruins, who suffered the most? When such difficulties arise, we all know that our women are the first to bear the brunt of these hardships. Pregnant women couldn’t reach hospitals on time. In critical situations, they couldn’t receive proper treatment. Our government has worked day and night to help you overcome these difficult circumstances,” said the Prime Minister.
The PM further quoted that Maoist violence was rampant during the RJD rule and the woman bore the burnt of it. He alleged that poor as well as families of doctors, officials had to suffer and the women didn’t have the luxury of working late at night. The Prime Minister said that he feels satisfied to see a large number of women police officers deployed.

Earlier Chief Minister Nitish Kumar praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion and said that a lot of work is being done for women and PM Modi is working for them.
Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojna
The state cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in August announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojna. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to one woman from every family in the state to start employment of their choice.
The benefit of the scheme will be given to all the Jeevika members [members of Self Help Groups] and other eligible women resident particularly from economically weaker section and those who does not have a permanent source of income.
The beneficiaries of the scheme will be given financial assistance of Rs 10000 each as part of the first instalment. The government after release of the first instalment will conduct an assessment after 6 months after which an additional assistance up to Rs 2 lakh rupees will be provided to the eligible beneficiaries.
The state government also aims to develop Haat markets across the state for sale of the products made by the women.
The state government has directed the Rural Development Department and the Urban Development and Housing Department to make the arrangements for smooth implementation of the scheme.
It is to be noted that the NDA government led by CM Kumar has announced several initiatives in the state lately. This comes amidst Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones of multiple development projects worth thousands of crores.
PM on September 15 inaugurated and laid foundation stone for multiple development projects in the state worth over Rs 36000 crore at Purnea.
In August this year, PM Modi had also inaugurated and laid development projects worth Rs 13000 crore from Gaya Ji in Bihar. The PM during his visit to the state had also inaugurated the Aunta-Simariya 6-lane bridge over the Ganga river constructed at a cost of over Rs 1870 crore.
Earlier, the Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs led by PM Modi on September 24 had also approved development projects worth over Rs 6000 crore for Bihar.
The projects approved by the committee include the doubling of Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya section of railway, costing around Rs 2192 crore and construction of 4-lane on Sahebganj-Areraj-Bettiah section of NH 139W with an estimated cost of Rs 3822 crore.
