The Ministry of Ayush on September 19, organised the Curtain Raiser for Ayurveda Day 2025 at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, addressed the gathering and announced that the 10th edition of Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on September 23 2025 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa.

Speaking at the press conference, Jadhav underscored Ayurveda’s position as a sustainable, integrative, and evidence-based global healthcare system. “Ayurveda is more than a medical science—it is a way of life that harmonises individuals with their environment. It offers sustainable healthcare solutions for both human health and planetary well-being,” he said.

The Minister informed that the Government of India has officially fixed September 23, as the annual date for Ayurveda Day, giving it universal recognition on the calendar. This year’s theme—“Ayurveda for People & Planet”—reflects India’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda as a holistic solution for global health and environmental sustainability.

Jadhav highlighted that Ayurveda continues to be the most widely practiced Ayush system across both rural and urban India, as confirmed by the first all-India NSSO survey. He also announced several key initiatives leading up to Ayurveda Day 2025, including:

  • “Little Steps to Wellness” – a student outreach campaign.
  • “Lead the Mislead” – a drive to counter misleading advertisements.
  • “Ayurveda Aahara for Obesity” – a dietary awareness programme.
  • Ayurveda-based interventions in plant health and veterinary care.
  • Initiatives focusing on Integrating Cancer Care and Digital Transformation of Ayurveda.
  • “Samhita Se Samvad” – a media partnership campaign for planetary wellness.

Tracing Ayurveda Day’s journey since its inception in 2016, the Minister noted that the 2024 edition witnessed participation from over 150 countries. He recalled key milestones, including the inauguration of Phase II of AIIA, establishment of four Centres of Excellence, and the launch of the “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan” by the Prime Minister. He also mentioned that Ayurveda has attracted investments worth Rs 12,850 crore, reinforcing its growing role in holistic healthcare.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director of AIIA, detailed the upcoming celebrations, which will include inter-ministerial collaborations, nationwide awareness programmes, digital campaigns, the National Dhanvantari Ayurveda Awards 2025, and sub-themes covering obesity prevention, cancer awareness, student outreach, and digital integration. Public participation will be encouraged through “I Support Ayurveda” campaigns on MyGov and MyBharat platforms.

The event was attended by senior dignitaries including Satyajit Paul, DDG, Ministry of Ayush; Dhirendra Ojha, Principal DG, PIB; and Dr. P.K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA, along with representatives from the media and press.
