Israel slams Pakistan for its “double standards” on terrorism, questions the safe haven furnished to Osama Bin Laden

Israel and Pakistan exchanged a heated argument in UNSC over Israeli strikes on the Hamas establishments in Qatar. In a sharp rebuttal, Israel exposed the “double standards” of Pakistan on terrorism and reiterated how safe-haven was ascended to Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan, while the world continued to quest for him as the most wanted notorious terrorist. Comments by Israel come a day after the CEO of UN watch condemned Pakistan as a ‘state sponsor of terrorism’

Pakistan was once again severely slammed in the United Nations Security Council(UNSC) forum for its “double standards” on terrorism. While a discussion was underway regarding the Israeli attack on the Hamas establishments in Qatar, Pakistan criticized Israel or its actions in Doha. In a sharp rebuttal Israel condemned Islamabad and exposed the hypocrisy of Pakistan as it sheltered the notorious terrorist Osama Bin Laden, apparently, for whom the world was searching relentlessly.

As the discussion proceeded in UNSC, Pakistan representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmad criticized Israel attack on Doha as “illegal and unprovoked aggression”. He also crowed that Israel is repeatedly violating the international law by its “brutal actions” and cross-border attacks in Syria, Lebanon, Iran and Yemen. Mr. Ahmad also called out Israeli actions in Qatar as “ludicrous” and quoted Israel as ‘aggressor’, ‘occupier’, who invokes international law for masking its violations.

Israel exclaimed a sharp and befitting response to the hypocrisy of Pakistan, a nation which indulges in cross-border terrorism, champions aggressive and inhumane atrocities while disregarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other nations. The Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN Danny Danon asserted, “Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistan and no one condemned the US. When other countries in the council attack terrorists, no one condemns them. But when Israel acts, you apply different standards”.

Israel Representative further added that when Bin Laden was in Pakistan the question was not ‘why target a terrorist on foreign soil?’ The actual question was ‘why was a terrorist given shelter at all?’ Thus, if there is no immunity for Osama Bin Laden, there can be no immunity for Hamas as well. Israel Representative thus mentioned that the facts cannot be erased.

Danny Danon also affirmed that when 9/11 horrors took place, the UNSC unanimously acknowledged that any nation should not shelter or fund terrorists. If the principle was true than, it must be true in the present circumstances as well, Israel Representative exclaimed.

Israel’s rebuttal to Pakistan comes consecutively, a day after Hillel Neuer, Human Rights lawyer and Director of UN Watch called out Pakistan as the “state sponsor of terrorism”. As Mr. Hillel recalled about the Osama Bin Laden episode while speaking about the Qatar hosting Hamas offices, Pakistani delegate abruptly interrupted him and said that Pakistan “rejects unfounded accusations and allegations”. As a sharp slap, the Director of UN Watch asserted that Pakistan is a state sponsor of terrorism.

Despite solid proof and global acknowledgement of Pakistan being a state sponsor of terrorism and extremist activities, Pakistan continues to be a safe-haven for terror networks and organizations and further nurtures terror outfits.
