Jalandhar: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has intensified its relief efforts amidst the floods in Punjab. With more than 1,700 Swayamsevaks on gound, the Sangh is engaged in relief and rescue operations in the flood affected areas.
Punjab Prant Sanghchalak, S Iqbal Singh, stated that the Sangh is reaching out to every section of society and providing its services. Notably, RSS Swayamsevaks are engaged in service, relief, and rescue work at 41 locations. According to people’s needs, cooked meals, ration packets, drinking water, tarpaulins, blankets, folding beds, shelters, medicines, odomos, and green and dry fodder for cattle are being provided.
At several locations, medical camps are also being organised. So far, the Sangh’s Swayamsevaks have reached out with assistance to 12,000+ families. Earlier, in Gurdaspur, Swayamsevaks transported several trolley-loads of essential materials including milk, sugar, rations, drinking water, and medicines to ten affected villages. They even reached areas where no other help had yet arrived, working alongside the administration.
In Kapurthala district, entire teams of Swayamsevaks supplied household items, odomos, candles, stomach medicines, ORS, and other essentials. In Mukerian, Swayamsevaks extended assistance to flood-hit families in villages such as Haled, Kolia, Simbli, and Mehtabpur. In Mehtabpur, water had risen several feet high, submerging the area. Once the waters receded, Swayamsevaks carried out cleaning and sanitation drives to restore normalcy.
According to S Iqbal Singh, Swayamsevaks have also been instructed to collaborate with social organizations and provide support wherever the flood threat remains.
S Iqbal Singh further informed that under the banners of Seva Bharati, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Vidya Bharati, Kisan Sangh, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Madhav Rao Mule Seva Samiti, Sarhadi Lokseva Samiti, and others, the Sangh’s Swayamsevaks are reaching out to the flood-affected people.

From the Himalayan terrain of Uttarakhand and Jammu to the floodplains of Punjab, the RSS has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to selfless service. Whether it is walking for hours to reach remote villages, providing food and medical aid, or cleaning flood-hit areas, Swayamsevaks continue to live by their guiding principle of Sewa Parmo Dharma.
