Raipur: Security forces have neutralised a Maoist in an ongoing encounter along the Dantewada-Narayanpur border, officials said.
The gunfight broke out in the early hours of September 5 when a joint team of District Reserve Guard [DRG] and Special Task Force [STF] was out on a search operation in the bordering regions.
Following an exchange of fire, body of a Maoist in uniform was recovered. The encounter is still underway and more details are awaited.

The operation was launched following the police received inputs related to presence of a large number of Maoists along the Narayanpur-Dantewada border.
Earlier a joint team of security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during an anti-Naxal operation in Abujhmad of Narayanpur.
The four-day operation was launched jointly by a team comprising personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), DRG and STF on August 24.

The campaign resulted in recovery of as many as 49 muzzle loading guns, one Insas rifle, one SLR rifle, one sten gun, and a Light Machine Gun [LMG]. A Trichy Assault Rifle [TAR] was also seized during the operation.
Furthermore, recovery of 8 Barrel Grenade Launchers [BGLs], three .303 rifles, four 12 bore rifles, 8 country made grenades, one hand grenades and over 80 small and medium size BGL shells were also made from separate sites during the operation.
