Rojgar Mahakumbh 2025: CM Yogi Adityanath launches employment fair, says UP villages are now job hubs

CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the three-day Rojgar Mahakumbh 2025 in Lucknow, where over 100 leading companies will offer jobs to 50,000 youth across qualifications. He said Uttar Pradesh, once known for migration, is now creating local job hubs through MSMEs, ODOP, and government initiatives

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the three-day Rojgar Mahakumbh at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, stating that the state, once known for large-scale migration in search of work, is now emerging as a hub of employment opportunities. The fair has brought together more than 100 leading companies from across the country to offer jobs to youth based on their skills and qualifications. Addressing the gathering on August 26, the CM emphasised that India has the world’s largest youth population, with Uttar Pradesh at the forefront, and noted that the state’s youth have already demonstrated their talent on the global stage.

Reflecting on the transformation of the past eight years, the Chief Minister said, “Earlier, entire villages used to migrate in search of jobs, but today, employment is available within the state. Villages are becoming new centers of employment.” He credited this change to the revival of industries, with nearly 96 lakh small-scale and cottage units operating in the state today, many of which had earlier shut down due to the inspector raj and interference.

CM Yogi recalled the crucial role played by One District One Product (ODOP) and MSME sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 40 lakh migrant workers returned to UP during the crisis, but the state government, through ODOP and MSME initiatives, provided them with meaningful employment.

Taking industrial support a step further, the Uttar Pradesh government has also introduced social security measures for entrepreneurs. Yogi highlighted that UP became the first state in India to provide Rs 5 lakh insurance cover to registered small-scale industrial units. This, he said, not only secures the future of entrepreneurs but also builds confidence in starting new businesses.

The Chief Minister linked the Rojgar Mahakumbh 2025 with the vision of building a self-reliant Uttar Pradesh that contributes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). He cited initiatives like the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana and the CM Yuva Udyami Yojana, which provide skill training, financial aid, and easy loans to youth and artisans.

“Every young person who wishes to become an entrepreneur is given training and affordable loans. With this, they can establish themselves and create more jobs. These changes have happened only in the last eight years,” Yogi said.

'मुख्यमंत्री युवा उद्यमी विकास योजना' के अंतर्गत 21 से 40 वर्ष की आयु का कोई भी युवा, ब्याज-मुक्त, गारंटी-मुक्त ₹5 लाख का ऋण लेकर स्वयं को युवा उद्यमी के रूप में स्थापित कर सकता है।

Alongside private sector opportunities, CM Yogi stressed the government’s focus on public sector employment. He noted that during his tenure:
2.19 lakh police personnel have been recruited
1.56 lakh teachers appointed
Across various departments, nearly 8.5 lakh youth have been provided with government jobs

Addressing the gathering, Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar said that more factories have been registered in Uttar Pradesh since 2017 than in the entire post-Independence period before it. He said that more factories have been registered in the state in the last eight years of CM Yogi’s leadership than in the entire period since Independence before it.

He assured that the Yogi government is fully committed to youth employment and stressed that such initiatives are creating a strong ecosystem for industrial growth and job creation.

The three day Rojgar Mahakumbh 2025 aims to provide jobs to 50,000 youth, ranging from candidates who have passed Class 8 to postgraduates and diploma engineers. According to Sevayojan Department Director Neha Prakash, more than 100 reputed national and international companies are participating. The event features:

On-spot interviews and placement drives,
Direct interactions with experts through the Rojgar Conclave,
Exhibitions showcasing UP’s progress, new industrial policies, and skill development models.

A Platform for Aspirations

The Rojgar Mahakumbh 2025 provides a single platform where job providers and job seekers come together, offering young aspirants opportunities not just within Uttar Pradesh, but also across India and abroad. With this initiative, the Yogi government is positioning Uttar Pradesh as a state of opportunities, ensuring that its youth find employment within their homeland and contribute to the vision of a self-reliant and developed India. The on-the-spot placement drives are expected to bring immediate relief to many job seekers, while interactions with experts will help guide long-term career planning.

As CM Yogi put it, “This is the new Uttar Pradesh, where youth are no longer forced to leave their villages for work. Instead, villages themselves are becoming the new hubs of jobs and opportunities.”
