Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10 lauded the Indian Armed Forces for the swift and decisive execution of Operation Sindoor, stating that the offensive had “brought Pakistan to its knees within hours” of its launch.
Addressing the ‘Next-Gen Mobility for a Next-Gen City’ programme in Bengaluru, PM Modi said: “This is the first time I have come to Bengaluru after Operation Sindoor. The operation showed our ability to destroy terrorist hideouts several kilometres across the border and bring Pakistan, which came to the rescue of terrorism, to its knees in a few hours.”
Technology and ‘Make in India’ credited for military edge
PM Modi highlighted the role of indigenous technology and the ‘Make in India’ initiative in strengthening India’s defence capabilities, pointing out that Bengaluru’s youth and Karnataka’s tech sector had played a key role.
“The youth of Bengaluru and Karnataka have contributed a lot to this success,” he said, adding that Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s resolve to adopt a hardline stance against terrorism.
Retaliation to Pahalgam terror attack
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in direct retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Indian forces carried out precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), eliminating over 100 militants linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Pakistan’s response and India’s counterstrikes
Following the strikes, Pakistan attempted to retaliate with cross-border shelling, drone incursions, and air defence action.
India’s counter-offensive crippled Islamabad’s military infrastructure by targeting radar systems, communication nodes, and airfields at 11 key bases, including the Nur Khan Air Base.
Global impact and strategic messaging
PM Modi said the operation not only dismantled Pakistan’s terror-supporting infrastructure but also sent a clear message to the world about India’s uncompromising approach to national security.
“The whole world saw India’s new face, a nation that will not tolerate terror in any form,” he emphasised.
