New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had to bite the dust for spreading misinformation about the then Union Law Minister and Arun Jaitley threating him about dire consequences as he waged protest against the three farm laws. The three farm laws were introduced in 2020, and Arun Jaitley had passed away in 2019.

While speaking at the Annual Legal Conclave 2025, Rahul Gandhi also claimed that Jaitley said that Gandhi doesn’t have an idea about who he was talking to and added, that “I remember when I was fighting the farm laws, Arun Jaitley was sent to threaten me. He said that if I carry on opposing the government, fighting the farm laws, then the government will act against me.”

Rohan Jaitley Reacts over Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about the former Finance Minister, have drawn severe criticism from Jaitley’ son Rohan Jaitley and others from the BJP.

Arun Jaitley’s son Rohan Jaitley countered Rahul Gandhi’s remarks by presenting the timeline of his father’s death and the political row related to farm laws. “Let me reminder him, my father passed away in 2019. The farm laws were introduced in 2020. More importantly it was not my father’s nature to threaten anyone over opposing view.  He always believed in building consensus and appreciated free and open discussions. That was simply who he was and that remains his legacy today”, wrote Rohan Jaitley on his X platform.

Rahul Gandhi now claims my late father, Arun Jaitley, threatened him over the farm laws.
Let me remind him, my father passed away in 2019. The farm laws were introduced in 2020. More importantly, it was not in my father's nature to threaten anyone over an opposing view. He was a…

He also said that Rahul Gandhi in a similar manner had accused former Defence Minister Manohar Parikar during his final days. Thus, Rohan Jaitley warned Rahul Gandhi to be vigilant and cautious especially while speaking about those who are not alive and has left the world.

Meanwhile BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also criticised Rahul Gandhi. “To suggest that Arun Jaitley approached him for anything at all is factually incorrect and misleading”, Malaviya said and asked the Congress leader to stick to facts and not rewrite timelines

🚨 Fake News Alert 🚨

Rahul Gandhi claims that Shri Arun Jaitley approached him to water down his opposition to 2020 Farm Laws. Let’s set the record straight:

This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi has spread wrong information. In the past also on various occasions such as matters related to the voter list in Maharashtra and on the questioning the authenticity of the electronic voting machines, Rahul Gandhi’s claims had fallen flat.
