“Intermittent and intense fire fight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the nooze while maintaining contact. One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces so far. Operation(Akhal) continues”, Indian Army’s Chinar Corps wrote on the X platform today morning. Hours later Indian Army confirmed that one more terrorist has been neutralized. “We suspect that one or two more terrorists are still hiding in the region and the operation is still on”, said a senior police officer. As the operation intensified, additional forces have been deployed in the Akhal forest region.
‘Operation Akhal’ comes just days after the security forces initiated ‘Operation Mahadev’ in which three terrorists belonging to the LeT terror network who were responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack were killed. The series of operations reflects the government and Indian army’s persistent resolve and commitment to deter terror infiltration into the country and pull Kashmir out of the terror menace.
