Amidst the spiritual ambience of Sawan and the sacred air of Kashi, speaking from his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 20th instalment of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, releasing over Rs 20,000 crore into the accounts of 9.7 crore farmers, but it was his blunt warning to India’s enemies and sharp rebuke of Opposition parties, especially the Congress and Samajwadi Party, that stole the spotlight.
Marking his 51st visit to Varanasi as Prime Minister a historic first for any PM in their own constituency Modi slammed, “Whoever attacks India won’t survive even in Pataal Lok,” invoking the resolute face of the Indian state as displayed during Operation Sindoor. He hailed Kashi as a city where “the soul is eternal, and the intimacy is global,” reflecting on its 11-year transformation into a global confluence of spirituality and modernity.
The Prime Minister didn’t hold back. He lashed out at the opposition’s reaction to Operation Sindoor, celebrated India’s indigenous military might, called for unity around Swadeshi and ‘Vocal for Local’, and reaffirmed his government’s vision of a new, strong, and self-reliant India.
Referring to the massive success of Operation Sindoor, India’s cross-border military offensive that eliminated terrorist camps in Pakistan, said PM Modi:
“Jab saamne anyaay aur aatank hota hai, tab Mahadev bhi apna Rudra roop dharan karte hain. The world saw India’s Rudra roop during Operation Sindoor. Whoever attacks India will not be spared not even in pataal lok.”

He described Operation Sindoor as a defining moment for India’s strategic doctrine and took a direct jab at the Opposition, “Pakistan is crying. That is understandable. But what is shameful is that Congress and SP are also crying! These are the same people who once gave clean chits to terrorists. Now, when Indian forces eliminate them, they call it a ‘tamasha’.”
He mocked Opposition leaders who questioned the timing of the operations against terrorists in Pahalgam, “Should I call and ask the Congress and SP before eliminating terrorists? Should we wait, serve them tea, and give them a chance to run? Those who raised such questions need to explain are they with India or with its enemies?”
PM Modi, invoking cultural symbolism, drew a powerful parallel between ‘Sindoor’, a symbol of pride and sacrifice in Indian tradition, and the naming of the operation:
“Congress called Operation Sindoor a tamasha. I ask you, can Sindoor ever be a tamasha? The Sindoor is a mark of a proud mother, of sacrifice and courage — and that is what our soldiers stood for during this operation. What kind of politics insults our martyrs?”
Unveiling a vision of self-reliance, PM Modi declared that UP will now become a hub for missile production, with the BrahMos missile manufacturing unit to be established in Lucknow, “The BrahMos that destroyed terror camps will now be made in Uttar Pradesh. If Pakistan dares to repeat its sins, it will face the wrath of missiles made right here in this sacred land.”
He hailed the UP Defence Industrial Corridor as a transformative step in India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat push, “Our air defence systems, drones, missiles all indigenously made shocked the world during Operation Sindoor. Our enemies saw what India can do when it is determined. This is the power of Make in India. This is the strength of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
Taking aim again at Congress and the Samajwadi Party, PM Modi accused them of sulking over India’s success, “Some people cannot digest that India has destroyed Pakistan’s terror camps. They insult our soldiers, question our operations, and sympathise with those who attack India. This is not just politics — this is betrayal of the nation.” “Their pain is not for Indian lives lost to terror. Their pain is that PM Modi succeeded. Their pain is that India retaliated with power and pride. This is votebank politics at its worst,” he added.
Amid a turbulent global economic climate, the Prime Minister reiterated his long-standing pitch for economic nationalism, urging all political parties to unite around ‘Swadeshi’ and ‘Vocal for Local’, “There is global instability. Countries are looking inward and protecting their interests. India too must do the same. If we want to become the third-largest economy, we must pledge to buy Indian, build Indian, and support Indian products.”
“If you truly care about India’s future, leave your politics aside. Be it BJP or Opposition unite for Swadeshi,” he urged. On the development front, PM Modi hailed the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme as a monument to government accountability, contrasting it sharply with previous regimes:
“Congress and SP fooled farmers for decades with false promises. We delivered. Rs 4.75 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers’ accounts. Rs 90,000 crore to UP alone. In Kashi, farmers have received Rs 900 crore. This is not charity it’s your right, and we are proud to honour it.”
He added that the scheme’s uninterrupted delivery over 20 instalments reflects the “intentions and willpower” of a decisive government: “This is New India where promises are not photo-ops but actions.”
Highlighting the 10th anniversary of the Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Modi said, “55 crore people, who had never even seen a bank, today have bank accounts. Now, we are taking KYC to every Panchayat. One lakh bank camps have been organised in a month. This is social empowerment.” “My mantra is simple: the more backward someone is, the more priority they should get,” he declared, triggering thunderous applause.
PM Modi concluded his address with a spiritual message, deeply rooted in Kashi’s identity, “I dearly wished to offer my prayers to Baba Vishwanath and Markandeya Mahadev in this holy month of Sawan. But I did not go, because I didn’t want to inconvenience fellow devotees. From here, I bow to Bholenath and Maa Ganga.”
But even this was layered with strength, “New India worships Bholenath but it becomes Kalbhairav in front of its enemies. We will not spare those who dare to harm our land.”
Paying tribute to Sewapuri’s legacy of revolution, PM Modi said, “This land once had charkhas in every home. Today, it will have missiles in its factories. This is the journey from Swadeshi of yesteryears to Atmanirbhar Bharat of today.”
