An EasyJet flight (EZY609) from Luton to Glasgow was forced to make an emergency landing on July 27 after a passenger repeatedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” and claimed he had a bomb. The aircraft landed safely at Glasgow Airport, where the 41-year-old man was removed.
Sources say the passenger claimed he wanted “to send a message” to US President Donald Trump, who is currently visiting Scotland as part of a five-day trip.

Although the flight was just minutes from its scheduled arrival, air traffic control coordinated an emergency response due to the bomb threat.
Passengers Recount Mid-Flight Chaos
A passenger on EasyJet flight EZY609 described the terrifying moment when the 41-year-old man emerged from the toilet shouting “Allahu Akbar” with his hands raised, creating panic among those onboard.
“He literally came out yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ with his hands above his head. Then he said, ‘I’ve got a bomb, I’ve got a bomb.’ People were stunned and confused,” the witness told.
According to the passenger, the man became aggressive, pushing airline staff, most of whom were petite women, despite being a large man himself, around six feet tall.
“When he pushed them, everything changed. One guy managed to grab him from behind and pull him down, and then several others jumped on top to restrain him,” the passenger added. “He struggled on the floor for a bit, but by then he knew he’d seriously messed up.”
The flight then made an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport, where police boarded the aircraft, handcuffed the man, and forcibly removed him, according to sources.
Bomb Threat Declared a Hoax
According to sources, a passenger revealed that the bomb threat was a hoax. Cabin crew reportedly searched the man’s bag and found no explosive device. Another passenger said the individual later admitted to police that he had no bomb and eventually “gave up.”
Police and EasyJet Respond
The sources cited an EasyJet spokesperson who confirmed the incident: “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard.”
They added, “EasyJet’s crew are trained to assess all situations and respond swiftly to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers is never compromised. The safety and well-being of our customers and crew remains our highest priority.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland also confirmed the incident, stating, “We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow at around 8:20 am on July 27, 2025. Officers boarded the aircraft upon arrival, arrested a 41-year-old man, who remains in custody. Investigations are ongoing.”
