“BMS is not merely limited to struggles for Pay, Perks, and Promotion, but also acknowledges its social responsibilities. Accordingly, BMS has long been working on three core areas, Environment, Social Harmony, and Swadeshi (Indigenous Economy). On this occasion, two additional themes: Kutumb Prabodhan and Nagrik Kartavya have been incorporated into its framework,” said All India President of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Hiranmay Pandya, during a press conference organized by BMS Delhi at Keshav Kunj, Jhandewalan.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak, Dr Mohan Bhagwat, will be the Chief Guest on this occasion. Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Government of India, Shri Mansukhbhai Mandaviya, will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
BMS will commemorate the glorious completion of its 70-year journey with a grand event on July 23, 2025, at the KD Jadhav Wrestling Hall, Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi.
“Around 10,000 karyakartas are expected to participate in the event. Many more wished to join from across the country and abroad, but due to logistical reasons, we had to set a limit. This decision was taken keeping the stadium’s capacity in mind,” informed Hiranmay Pandya.
“BMS began on July 23, 1955, in Bhopal, and to mark this historic milestone, the 70-year celebrations were formally launched on July 23, 2024, also from Bhopal. Starting in August, BMS organized a five-month-long lecture series at the district level across the country, focusing on these five themes to generate widespread public awareness among its members and society at large,” Hiranmay Pandya said.
“From December onwards, Shramik Sampark was carried out among workers, followed by the organisation of Women’s and Youth Conferences at the district level in February–March 2025, which saw enthusiastic participation from women and young workers,” he further said.
“Today’s young generation has gained some experience, and we want them to gain more by engaging actively. We need both youth leadership and women leadership, not just in words, but through meaningful participation. Women must be brought forward not only for representation but also to lead and contribute to development. Their role should grow both in leadership and membership. Only then can we truly see comprehensive progress. These sammelans were held with this aim, and they were successful,” he said.
Hiranmay Pandya also mentioned that BMS-affiliated unions expanded significantly across the country, with the establishment of numerous new unions across various sectors.
He further noted, “Everyone knows that from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023, India held the presidency of the G20. Along with that came several engagement groups, including Business 20 (B20) and Labour 20 (L20). Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh had the honour of chairing the Labour 20 (L20). Through that process, we established contact with trade unions from many countries and achieved remarkable success in the L20 initiative. Around 62 delegates from 29 countries participated, and the event was a great success. As a result, there is now increasing recognition, both in Bharat and globally, for the leadership of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, and there is a growing demand for our continued engagement at that level.”
On this occasion, BMS will also felicitate several of its senior activists, including, including: Geeta Gokhale (Mumbai), Hansubhai Dave (Rajkot), Sama Balreddy (Hyderabad), Vasant Pimplapure (Nagpur), Amarnath Dogra (Delhi), Sardar Kartar Singh Rathore (Punjab), Haji Akhtar Hussain (Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh), Mahesh Pathak (Railways, Delhi), and several other senior karyakartas.
On this occasion, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh will launch a new digital platform to keep records and information about its karyakartas, work and strengthen internal communication. Additionally, a documentary film based on the 70-year journey of the BMS will be screened, and a special edition of ‘Organiser Weekly’ magazine titled ‘Laborious Resetting’ will also be released.
The event will also witness participation from State Presidents and General Secretaries of BMS, Federation Leaders, members of the extended National Executive Committee, and thousands of employees from Delhi and the NCR region. The program will commence at 11:00 AM.
