Raipur: Chhattisgarh police on July 15 deported over two dozen Bangladeshi infiltrators, residing illegally in the state. A total of 30 Bangladeshi nationals arrested by police from across the state were taken to Guwahati on a flight.
These infiltrators were arrested during the ongoing drive run by the police to locate and deport illegal foreign infiltrators from the state after Union Home Ministry issued instruction to states and UTs to detain and deport foreign nationals residing illegally.
The Bangladeshi nationals will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) on Indo-Bangladesh border who after completing legal proceeding will deport them to Bangladesh.
According to details, these infiltrators were earlier detained by the police from Raigarh, Durg, Chirimiri, Rajnandgoan, Mohla Manpur and Raipur district.
On the action taken against Bangladeshi infiltrators Chhattisgarh deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the police has formed Special Task Force (STF) in every districts to nab illegal infiltrators in the state.
“We have formed an STF in every district, and they are working as well, with a large number of FIRs registered, people arrested, and actions being taken. Along with this, we have issued a toll-free number and have urged everyone to call this number and provide information if they spot any intruder. Action will be taken thereafter,” said Sharma who also oversee state’s home ministry.

Discussion over Bangladeshi infiltrators in state assembly
Meanwhile the state assembly on Tuesday discussed the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators residing in the state. Raising concern over the infiltrators BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar claimed that nearly 5000 Bangladeshis are residing illegally in the state.
The BJP lawmaker further claimed that the infiltrators are availing benefits of government welfare schemes as they have made identity proofs such as Aadhar and Ration cards. He also demanded to erect a detention centre for infiltrators.
Replying to Chnadrakar, deputy CM Sharma informed that a total of 19 FIRs have been registered by the police and appropriate action is being taken.
He said that STF is formed for the first time and verification process is on to detect illegal intruders. The deputy CM ruled out the demand of detention centre, stating that a Boarding centres will be established and the detained individuals will be kept there before deportation.
MHA directive to identify and deport illegal immigrants/infiltrators
It is to be noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in May this year issued directives to all the states and Union Territories (UTs) to constitute STF in every district to identify and deport illegal immigrants.
According to the directives issued, police are required to collect comprehensive details of suspected illegal immigrants/infiltrators and put them to designated holding centres.
The Home Ministry had also instructed the states and UTs to record the biometric and demographic details of detained individuals on the Foreigners Identification Portal upon confirmation of their status as illegal immigrant/infiltrator.
Several states have formed STF on lines of directives issued by the Ministry, deporting foreign nationals residing illegally in Bharat.
