Guwahati: Supreme sacrifices made by our brave soldiers during 1999 Kargil war is an inspiration for our future generations. Such an heroic figure was Captain Jintu Gogoi, Veer Chakra, of Assam who made his supreme sacrifice for the nation during the battle of Battalik.
As the nation prepares to celebrate the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, the Indian Army has launched a heartfelt initiative to honour the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War and families who stood strong in the service of the Nation.
The Army Representatives met the family members of the martyrs and shared that the sole purpose of this Outreach Programme is to reiterate that supreme sacrifice of our soldiers is never forgotten. Our heroes may no longer be with us, but the stories of their bravery, and their unwavering love for the nation will continue to inspire generations.
The Indian Army delegation met and conveyed the gratitude on behalf of the Nation to Hony Flg Officer TR Gogoi, father of Capt Jintu Gogoi, VrC (P) (17 Garhwal Rifles) who made supreme sacrifice at Batalik Sector during Kargil War.
On the same occasion another delegation of the Indian Army paid visit to Nyima Chozom mother of Rfn Nyima Tashi who laid down his life at the Kargil conflict during Operation Vijay scripting the chapters of victory. The presentation of remembrance tokens by the Indian Army delegation made the families of Kargil Heroes feel proud and gratified.

Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorates India’s hard-fought victory against Pakistan in the rugged mountainous terrain of Kargil & Battalik sectors of Ladakh, in 1999. This year, the Army’s outreach brings the remembrance from national memorials to the very doorsteps of sacrifices, rekindling a direct and powerful bond between the people and their heroes.
It’s a message to every family of the fallen hero: India stands with you, Always.
