West Bengal: BJP slams Mamata and Congress for stooping to a new low on the fake news on Operation Sindoor

BJP's Amit Malaviya has slammed Mamata Banerjee and the Congress for reacting to fake news about "Operation Sindoor" published in Dainik Bhaskar. He accused them of politicizing a baseless report to divert attention and escape from real governance issues. Malaviya said such responses reflect their desperation and neglect of the actual problems faced by citizens

The Bharatiiya Janata Party has strongly criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress spokespersons for their response to a fake news report published by Dainik Bhaskar claiming that the BJP plans to distribute sindoor (vermilion) to women across India starting June 9, marking the anniversary of Narendra Modi’s third term as Prime Minister.

The fake news had suggested that under the “Operation Sindoor,” the BJP would gift sindoor to women starting June 9, the day marking the commencement of Modi’s third term, and that several related public outreach activities would be conducted across the country.

The news report claims that the outreach programmes include public relations campaigns, press conferences, professional meets, and yoga camps. However, Amit Malaviya, National Convenor of BJP IT Cell, has dismissed the entire report as fabricated and called on the media and political opponents to avoid spreading misinformation.

Malaviya, took to Twitter to address the growing social media reactions triggered by the false news. “Many people are reacting on social media based on this #FakeNews published in Dainik Bhaskar. But the real absurdity began when the Chief Minister of West Bengal, from an official government platform, started politicizing this baseless report like a troll,” he stated.

Malaviya sharply rebuked Mamata Banerjee for diverting attention from pressing issues in her state to comment on a fabricated story. “Mamata Banerjee should be concerned about the deteriorating condition of her own state and refrain from making ridiculous statements on sensitive issues like national security,” he added.

Highlighting the law and order challenges in West Bengal, the BJP leader pointed out, “West Bengal is burning in the fire of communal tensions, women are not safe, the unemployed have no jobs, these should be Mamata Banerjee’s priorities.” He urged the Chief Minister to focus on governance rather than engaging in political theatrics over a baseless news item.

Malaviya also targeted the Congress party, describing its spokespersons as “frivolous people.” He remarked, “It would be unreasonable to expect anything better from them,” emphasizing Congress’s role in fuelling unnecessary controversies without credible evidence.
