Bilaspur: In a shocking incident that has come to the fore from Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district, a man has accused his wife for luring him to convert to Christianity in lieu of settling a dowry related complaint filed by the latter.
As per the details, the victim Mayank Pandey, an engineer by profession and a resident of Chakarbhata area was having a dispute with his wife who later lodged a complaint against Mayank for harassment under the provisions of dowry act at Madhya Pradesh’s Anuppur district.
Pandey however later approached his wife Ranjana to find an amicable solution to which she agreed though not without putting a rider that Mayank will convert to Christianity.
The accused allegedly also lured Mayank with money and a job, promising him a sum of Rs 50000 if the latter agree to comply with her demand. She further reportedly offered him Rs 20000 each for converting anyone to Christianity.
Shocked by Ranjana’s proposal, Mayank returned to his house and shared his ordeal with the family members after which he lodged a complaint against his wife.
Following Mayank’s complaint, the police has reportedly register a zero FIR into the case and the matter is being further investigated.
It is being further reported that Ranjana was converted to Christianity after she came in contact with the principle of DAV school being operated at Kumhari of Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi district.
Significantly, this is not the only time that a case involving one of the spouses forcing the other one to convert his/her religion has come to the fore. Cases of similar nature have also grabbed the headlines in the past as well, underscoring the grave ramifications of illegal conversion affecting familiar dynamics.
