JNUSU Elections: ABVP slams leftist council for tearing minutes, abusing women representatives

ABVP has condemned the Left-led JNUSU for tearing meeting minutes and verbally abusing its female councillors during a council session. The student body accuses the Left of hijacking democratic norms and pushing ideological tyranny on campus

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has come out strongly against what it termed as “an orchestrated act of hooliganism and ideological dictatorship” during a recent Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) Council meeting.

In a strongly-worded statement, ABVP accused the Left-dominated student union leadership of hijacking the democratic framework of the council. According to eyewitness accounts and ABVP representatives present at the meeting, the Left members not only disrupted proceedings but allegedly tore apart the official minutes of the meeting in a bid to suppress dissenting voices.

URGENT: JNU Under Siege!

We condemn the shameful display of hooliganism and dictatorial behavior by the Leftist cabal in the JNUSU Council Meeting. They hijacked the democratic forum, tore apart Meeting Minutes, and unleashed verbal abuse against female councillors from ABVP.… pic.twitter.com/BxdEMLF8Ua

Shockingly, ABVP has also alleged targeted verbal abuse and intimidation against its female councillors by the Left student leaders — a move that has sparked outrage across ideological lines on campus. “This wasn’t just a breach of protocol, it was a direct assault on democratic norms and the dignity of our women representatives,” stated an ABVP spokesperson.

The incident has reignited tensions at JNU, a campus that has long been a battleground of ideological contest between Left-leaning and nationalist student bodies. ABVP, which holds significant support across departments, is now calling for a larger student movement to “restore democratic order and uphold constitutional values” within the university.

“We will not stand idly by as the Leftist cabal turns JNU into a bastion of violence and intellectual monopoly. This is not the dictatorship of one ideology — this is a university funded by the taxpayers of Bharat, and every student deserves a voice,” read a segment from ABVP’s official release.

Students not affiliated with either bloc expressed concern over the growing hostility in campus politics. “We want debate, not daily drama. Tearing documents and abusing people doesn’t help anyone,” said a student from the School of Social Sciences.

The administration, thus far, has remained silent on the developments. ABVP has urged the university authorities to take immediate action against those responsible for the disruptions and to initiate an impartial inquiry.
