The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has erected a distorted image of Prime Minister Modi at the gateway of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, near Kochi, in connection with the 2025 University Union Arts Festival “OBONATO”. The man in the picture carries a spear pierced into an embryo in one hand, a controversial structure in Ayodhya in another, a lotus in the third, and a hanging rope in the fourth. The idea is to create a communal divide in the country.
This images was first noticed by students on 26 April, and they immedaitely alerted the authorities. They claim that the individuals behind this distasteful expression is an insult to Supreme Court of the country for its stance and verdicts in the Gujarat riots case and the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi case. They alleded that SFI members are misusing this malicious campaign to malign PM, who has been elected by the people of Bharat, belonging to all religions.
Observers are questioning what kind of message the SFI intends to convey to society by erecting such a vicious image in connection with a university arts festival.
The incident has become the talk of the nation. This type of anti-national activity has led people outside the state to refer to Kerala as a ‘mini Pakistan’. Now, the Central Intelligence and Kerala Police have registered cases against the culprits, based on a complaint filed by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha workers held a protest march against the venomous campaign of the SFI on the evening of April 26. Interestingly, the SFI removed the distorted picture before the Yuva Morcha’s protest march. They then put up a banner against the RSS shakha, but the police removed it.
Reports suggest that SFI workers physically intervened in the march. An SFI member reportedly rode his motorbike through the procession, leading to a heated exchange of words. Now, police have registered cases against both BJP and SFI workers in connection with the altercation.
According to sources, local BJP workers have sent a report directly to the Home Ministry. As a result, Central Intelligence has begun inquiries. BJP leaders have conveyed to the police that if such anti-national activities recur, there will be dire consequences. At present, 24×7 police patrolling is underway at the gateway of Kalady University.
At a time when the country is mourning the Pahalgam terror attack and preparing to teach Pakistan a lesson, insulting the Prime Minister with such a distorted image amounts to anti-national activity. Morever, it is deeply unfortunate that such incidents occur in the birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya.
