State Government has completely failed in safeguarding Hindus: VHP condemns violence in West Bengal

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly condemned the recent incidents of violence in West Bengal, accusing the state government of failing to protect the Hindu community. In a sharp statement, the VHP alleged that law and order have collapsed under the current administration and that targeted attacks on Hindus have become alarmingly frequent

VHP Organising General Secretary Milind Parande hits at West Bengal government over attack on Hindus

Siliguri: The Vishva Hindu Parishad on April 14, 2025 condemned the violence in West Bengal and said that the state government has completely failed in safeguarding “Hindus”.  According to VHP Organising General Secretary Milind Parande, the state government is for all communities, and it is not unfortunate if “thousands of people have to leave their homes.”

“The violence taking place in Bengal is condemnable. The State Government has completely failed in safeguarding Hindus. State Government is for all communities, the entire state. But I feel they are oblivious to this. If thousands of people have to leave their home, there is nothing more unfortunate than this”, he told ANI.

Parande further mentioned that he can see how the state government is failing in its duty and is doing very little to protect society. He stated that a few people on Monday announced that they would organise a protest march in several parts of the state but questioned what it had to do with the attack on the Hindus happening in the state.

“We can see that the State Government is working so little towards protecting society and is failing in its duty. So, Hindu community should think about it…A few people announced today that they would take out a protest march today at several places in the state. But what does that have to do with the attack on Hindus? If you want to protest, do it. But there is no logic in attacking Hindus”, he said.

He further questioned that if someone has to say anything against Waqf, then where does it have any connection with attacking “Hindus”? Parade said that all of it is pre-planned and state government should ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the state.

“So, this should be deliberated on very seriously…If someone has to say anything against Waqf, what has it got to do with attacks on Hindus? There seems to be just anti-Hindu action. This seems pre-planned. So, the Government should ensure that such incidents are not repeated anywhere in West Bengal. Violence to show one’s dissent has no meaning. It has no place in any civilised society. So, State Government should put an end to this responsibly”, Parande said.

The violence in Murshidabad was sparked by protests against the Waqf Amendment Act, which has been a contentious issue in the region. The protests turned violent, resulting in the deaths of three people, injuries to several others, and widespread property damage. (With inputs from ANI)
