The Delhi Police, led by DCP Bheeshm Singh of North-West Delhi, apprehended five illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, including Mohammad Shakidul, Md Dulal Akhtar, Mohammad Mahir, Md Ameerul Islam (alias Monika), and Saddam Hussain (alias Rubeena). The group had been living in Delhi for an extended period, using fake identities to blend in.

A peculiar aspect of this case was the revelation that the arrested individuals had undergone gender reassignment surgeries and hormone treatment to alter their appearances. Their goal was to present themselves as women, making it harder for authorities to identify them as illegal immigrants. The group had also been using the banned IMO app to maintain contact with their families back in Bangladesh.

Upon interrogation, the suspects disclosed that they had entered India illegally through the porous borders with the help of agents. They then travelled by train to reach Delhi, where they underwent surgeries and hormonal therapy. Their aim was to escape detection and live undisturbed by authorities. This unusual case highlights a disturbing new method of evading identification, with authorities now investigating how widespread such practices might be among other illegal immigrants.

The union government has been taking firm steps to tackle the increasing issue of illegal immigration, particularly from Bangladesh. Over the years, authorities have ramped up surveillance along the borders, while also strengthening measures to identify and deport illegal immigrants. This latest incident has brought attention to the evolving tactics used by some to bypass identification processes. As part of its ongoing crackdown, the government continues to implement strict border controls, enhanced tracking systems, and active cooperation with neighboring countries to prevent the infiltration of illegal immigrants.
