Guwahati: The ouster of Sheikh Hasina government by the radical forces in Bangladesh is causing a serious threat to India. Ever Since the political turmoil in the neighbouring country, thousands of infiltrators are making attempts to enter Indian territory. Hundreds of such intruders were captured by security forces but many of them successfully entered India illegally in the last 7-8 months.
In a series of coordinated operations, Assam Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have successfully thwarted multiple infiltration attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, detaining over 100 Bangladeshi nationals in the past 10 days.
Authorities reported continuous attempts by groups of Bangladeshi nationals to cross into Indian territory illegally. However, heightened vigilance by security forces has led to the interception and deportation of numerous infiltrators from Assam and Tripura.
Recent Interceptions & Deportations
– On March 25, Assam Police apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals —Md. Hassan, Md. Alamin Mia, and Md. Saiful Islam— in Sribhumi before swiftly pushing them back.
– In another operation, two individuals, Santo Ahmed and Sojol Ahmed, were intercepted near the international border while trying to enter Indian territory and deported by Assam police.
– A group of 13 Bangladeshi nationals were deported through the Sutarkandi ICP, including Abdul Hamid, Sabuj Hussain, Abul Hassan, and others.
– Sribhumi Police intercepted Irfan Khan and Nurul Afsar, pushing them back to Bangladesh.
BSF Operations in Tripura
Meanwhile, in Tripura, BSF troops have been actively preventing illegal crossings
– On March 24, during a search operation in Teliamura, seven Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian tout were apprehended.
– Earlier, on March 18, four Rohingya illegal migrants and two Indian touts were arrested in Panisagar.
Authorities’ Firm Stand
Assam Police and BSF have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against illegal infiltration. “We remain committed to maintaining strict vigilance along the border to prevent unauthorized entry,” stated an official from Assam Police.
With security forces intensifying border surveillance, further interceptions are expected in the coming days.
