Raipur: A row erupted in Anukampa Nagar of Raipur after local Hindu activists gathered and staged a strong protest against an alleged attempt of conversion at a house on March 9.
The activists gathered at the spot alleged that illegal conversion is being promoted at the said house. They soon started sloganeering at the spot, demanding action against those involved in promotion of illegal conversion. A few of the vehicles parked near the spot are also said to be damaged in the brawl.
According to the media reports, around 100 people were gathered at a program organised at a house in Tantibandh area under the jurisdiction of Aamanaka police station.
The news of the said gathering however somehow reaches to the local Hindu activists who soon gathered at the spot and started protest against the ongoing program.
Learning about the incident, a police team too reached the spot and tried calming the agitated protestors. The police then safely evacuated all the people from inside and took them to the nearby police station.
The activists alleged that a few people whose family members were invited in the program informed them about the illegal conversion after which they arrived at the spot. They demanded strict action against those promoting such exercises in the area.
The authorities on the other hand have reportedly registered a case and assured action against anyone who founds to be involved in promoting illegal conversion. The matter is currently being investigated.
Notably, similar protests erupted at two separate places in Mohla on March 2 after news of similar gathering reported at ward no 07 and 16.
According to the details, people from remote localities were invited into the events, raising speculation over a possible plot of conversion which led to protests by local Hindu workers.
The protest continued for around two hours at one of the places after which the police team intervened and subsequently sent the attendees to their desired locations. At another place where a prayer meeting was called, the activists alleged that people from the tribal community were invited and being lured into conversion.
