“Delhi ke dil mein Modi hai”: Nadda at BJP headquarters on victory in assembly polls

Bharatiya Janata Party national president J P Nadda hailed the party’s historic win in the Delhi assembly elections on Saturday, saying the results have clearly shown that “Delhi ke dil (heart) mein Modi hai.’

The BJP won a historic mandate in Delhi polls, returning to power in the national capital after 27 years by ending over 10 years rule of Aam Aadmi Party with several AAP leaders including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, three-time MLA Somnath Bharti losing from their strongholds.

“Today, the people showed from this elections, and in the Lok Sabha, the people of Delhi made BJP win all 7 seats and in this assembly election you made us win 48 seats, the message is clear – ‘Delhi ke Dil mein Modi hain’,” Nadda said during the celebration at the BJP’s headquarters in the national capital.

The BJP national president was addressing a large crowd, of supporters, who were chanting slogans ‘Modi, Modi.’

Talking about the slew of victories the party has seen in repeated assembly elections across the country, Nadda attributed this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“Today, at this historic moment, I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of all the party workers of BJP. The BJP has been victorious one after the other under the leadership of PM Modi,” Nadda said.

The party had recently won the Haryana assembly polls in October and Maharashtra elections in November 2024. In Haryana they got a third term, while in Maharashtra they won with a sweeping margin of winning 235 seats (in the 288 member assembly).

Further launching a blistering attack at Aam Aadmi Party, Nadda said that the AAP “misled the people” in the name of education, reiterating the party being an ‘AAP-DA’ (disaster).

“They (AAP) misled people in the name of education… These elections have given a clear message that the people of Delhi do not need such a party. ‘AAP-Da’ is a factory of lies and a factory for finding new ways to commit corruption,” Nadda added.

BJP has won 48 seats out of the total 70, comfortably crossing the majority mark. Whereas AAP only won 22 seats. The AAP has registered a steep fall from their 2020 assembly election performance, when they won 62 out of 70 seats.

The Congress, which was hoping for its revival in the national captial, again failed to win any seat. The party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years from 1998, registered a hat-trick of zero tally in assembly polls.

The 2025 Delhi assembly election recorded a voter turnout of 60.54 per cent. According to Election Commission data, BJP won 45.56 per cent of the total vote share (around 43 lakh votes) in the national capital, emerging as the largest party. AAP was the second largest party by vote share, securing 43.57 per cent vote share (around 41 lakh votes).
