In a formal complaint submitted to the Governor, BJP leader Darshanapu Srinivasa Rao has raised serious allegations against Vice-Chancellor Sharada Jayalakshmi of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University. The complaint highlights concerns over her questionable appointment, alleged Christain religious activities within the university premises, and administrative mismanagement, sparking outrage among staff and political circles alike.

Darshanapu Srinivasa Rao, BJP leader from Guntur, in his complaint alleged that Sharada Jayalakshmi’s appointment during the tenure of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government is not based on merit but due to political connections and recommendations from a church pastor in Pulivendula. Critics argue that this undermines the sanctity of academic institutions, where leadership roles should be reserved for the most qualified individuals.

In a shocking revelation, reports indicate that Sharada Jayalakshmi has been conducting Christian prayers and favouring missinary activities within the university’s administration building during official working hours. This blatant display of religious favoritism has disturbed the secular fabric of the institution, with staff members expressing discomfort and concern over the violation of institutional neutrality.

Speaking with Organiser weekly, Srinivasa Rao, said Jayalakshmi faces accusations of biased staff transfers and promotions, creating an environment of discontent and frustration among university employees since her appointment. Several complaints detailing administrative malpractice have been submitted to vigilance authorities, citing favoritism and lack of transparency in key decisions.

The BJP leader has vehemently condemned the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment and administrative practices, demanding an independent investigation. A formal letter has been submitted to the Governor in the last week, calling for an inquiry into both her appointment process and the alleged religious activities within university premises.

Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), established in 1964 as Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, is a premier institution dedicated to agricultural education, research, and extension in India.
