Patna: Bihar labour resource minister and BJP leader Santosh Kumar Singh was threatened by an alleged member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to the reports, an unknown caller claiming to be a member of the Bishnoi gang threatened the minister via Whatsapp chat, demanding levy of Rs 30 lakh. The caller also warned the minister with dire consequences if he fails to comply with the demanded money.
Sharing the details of the incident, Santosh Singh said that he was getting repeated calls from an unknown number and subsequently received the threatening text after he didn’t responded to the calls.
The caller reportedly cautioned the minister for his safety, issuing a 24-hour ultimatum to him. He also sent the details of Singh’s private vehicle after which the minister informed the incident to the police. The caller further shared a QR code, asking the minister to transfer the money.
A case in regard to the incident was lodged at the Kotwali police station and is now being probed by the authorities. Preliminary reports suggest that the number used for threatening the BJP lawmaker was not registered in India.
Notably, Purnea MP Pappu Yadav had also claimed to received threats from an alleged member of the Bishnoi gang recently, however a probe into the matter later revealed that the caller was a resident of Bihar and was allegedly a member of Yadav’s Jan Adhikar Party.
The accused Rambabu during the course of investigation had claimed that he was in touch with the spokesperson of Jan Adhikar Party, Rajesh Yadav who had asked him to threaten the MP over phone. Rambabu’s claims however were refuted by Yadav.
