In a shocking turn of events, a Hindu girl from Meerut’s Kankarkheda area was kidnapped by a Muslim youth, sparking accusations of “love jihad” from Hindu organisations. The girl, who had reportedly entered a live-in relationship with the youth after the abduction, was later found by police following a series of search operations.

The incident began when the girl went missing, prompting her family to file a complaint at the local police station. The police launched a search to locate the missing girl and subsequently discovered her living with the accused youth. Upon learning that the girl was from the Hindu community, Hindu organisations became involved, alleging that the youth was engaging in love jihad, a term used by some to describe interfaith relationships under controversial circumstances.

Responding to the growing outcry from Hindu groups, the police acted swiftly. They detained both the boy and the girl, with the girl being sent to Nari Niketan for her protection and welfare. The boy was taken into custody and is currently under investigation.

According to the Kankarkheda Police Inspector, the boy was apprehended with the assistance of a friend, who played a role in helping authorities locate the couple. The police have stated that action will be taken following the girl’s statement, which is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and subsequent living arrangement.
