Guwahati: Amid series if violence against minority Hindus, illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh continue to sneak into Indian territories. But vigilant security forces successfully thwarted their attempts to enter into the Indian side. Northeastern states of Assam and Tripura are facing huge infiltration attempts ever since radical forces uprooted Sheikh Hasina government in the neighbouring country and forced her to flee.

On the intervening night of December 22-23, Assam police busted a huge Inter-State movement of infiltrators; 16 Bangladeshis infiltrators were nabbed by Assam police team. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his X handle wrote, “In an excellent op carried out by @SSalmaraPolice, 16 illegal Bangladeshis (7 Male, 4 Female & 5 children) who travelled from Bengaluru to Guwahati Railway Station and moved towards South Salmara Mankachar district were apprehended and upon investigation their nationality as Bangladeshis were confirmed. These people are being pushed back across the border.”

The apprehended individuals were identified as Zakir Sk, Md Mehdi Hasan, Rumana Aktar, Md. Rizwan Hawaldar, Jamal Sk, Beauty Begum, Munni Begum, Nushrat Zahan, Rustom Sk, Rubel Qureshi, Chand Mia and 5 children.

Assam police sources said that the infiltrators were travelling from Bangalore to Guwahati and then reached South Salmara by bus in an attempt to cross over to Bangladesh. They were apprehended and after investigation they were pushed back to Bangladesh territory by the security forces.

On the night of December 22, Assam police apprehended 6 Bangladeshi infiltrators while trying to cross over to Indian territory. After investigating their nationality and confirming the same, police pushed them across the border. The apprehended Bangladeshi infiltrators were identified as Mustafizur Rahman, Kabbo Cruze, Md. Lelin Mia, Sirazul Islam, Saiful Islam and Muktar Hussain.

Similarly, 2 Illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators nabbed and sent back to Bangladesh side by Assam police. The apprehended infiltrators were identified as Mahabul Haque and Shahina Akhtar.

It should be mentioned that after the political turmoil and uprising of radical Islamist forces in Bangladesh, violence against minority Hindus increased unprecedentedly. According to reports over 2200 attacks on Hindus took place in the country since August 5 when PM Sheikh Hasina government was toppled by radical forces in the name of a so-called student movement.
