There is a very famous saying: “Yesterday philanthropy was a virtue. Today it’s a business.”
The recent debates in Bharat’s socio-political realm have exposed the links between the grand old party, the Indian National Congress and the third forces i.e. the anti-Bharat global forces aiming to destabilise Bharat’s development journey. These are the same forces which are accused throughout the world of making either attempts to topple or have dislodged the elected governments for their own selfish gains/ motives.
One of the main leader of these forces is the controversial so-called American businessman George Soros. Soros, a Jew, was born in Hungary. He came to the spotlight in 2020 when he made comments against Bharat and nationalism and also pledged to donate 1 billion US Dollars to fight ‘Nationalism’ by stating that “Nationalism, far from being reversed, made further headway. The biggest and most frightening setback occurred in India where a democratically elected Narendra Modi is creating a Hindu nationalist state, imposing punitive measures on Kashmir, a semi-autonomous Muslim region, and threatening to deprive millions of Muslims of their citizenship.”
The recent exposure of alleged links between former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and notorious Soros has sparked off debates in the socio-political arena of Bharat. However, the links between the Congress Party and the vile third forces has been a pestering issue which needs persistent scrutiny. Not only Sonia Gandhi, but the whole Congress system seemed to have become puppets in the hands of George Soros and other anti-Bharat forces.
Soros and Gandhi – Nehru Family : Not Political, but Familiar Connection:
Jewish Hungarian Fori Nehru (also known as Shobha Nehru), originally named Magdolna Friedman, was the wife of Indira Gandhi’s cousin brother Braj Kumar Nehru.
Till Fori Nehru’s death, she and Soros used to be connected with correspondence till the time when in May, 2009, when Soros decided to meet her personally. The said meeting was arranged by Anil Nehru, son of Braj Kumar Nehru and Fori. Soros first flew to Delhi and then booked a chartered Kingfisher plane to reach Chandigarh in the afternoon. This meeting was covered by the media of that time!. So, it can be stated that Gandhi-Nehru family doesn’t only share a political relationship, rather they are sharing a familiar and cordial relationship with George Soros.
The Soros-Yunus Connection
The close relationship between billionaire philanthropist George Soros and Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus is no longer a secret. Alex Soros, George Soros’s son, has publicly acknowledged the bond between his father and Yunus, emphasising the friendly connection they share.
Rahul’s suspicious foreign visits before major controversies in Bharat
In December 2019, Home Minister Amit Shah, while discussing the Special Protection Group (SPG) Bill in the Lok Sabha, said, “In the last four years since 2015, Rahul has travelled abroad at least 247 times — an average 62 trips in a year, which amounts to five a month. The data was based on the number of times Rahul had travelled without informing the SPG.”
Shah further added that since 2015, Rahul has travelled 1,892 times in India and 247 times abroad without informing the SPG.
South Korea (December 2019)
In December 2019, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited South Korea. Congress said that his visit was to enhance Indo-Korean ties. The delegation – including Sam Pitroda, chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress and Nikhil Alva, who was Rahul Gandhi’s communications strategist, spoke on how the Congress-ruled States could draw inspiration from infrastructural and technological projects in Korea for their own development. Interestingly, his visit was amid nationwide protest on Citizenship Amendment bill, which later resulted in riots in Delhi. \
Italy (December 2020)
Amid farmers’ protests over the three farm laws in New Delhi, in December 2020, Rahul Gandhi had left for Italy. Later in January 2021, farmers’ protest turned violent and farmers broke through police barricades to storm Delhi’s historic Red Fort complex
Recent events in Bangladesh highlight parallels to strategies that previously failed in India. Efforts to discredit and destabilise the Bharatiya Government involved branding its democratically elected leadership as dictatorial, undermining the credibility of its institutions, and exploiting societal divisions. While this approach failed in India, it appears to have been more successful in Bangladesh, creating significant political upheaval.
Key Meetings Underscoring the Alliance
On October 3, 2024, Alex Soros met with Muhammad Yunus, who has assumed the role of chief advisor to Bangladesh’s interim Government. During the meeting, Alex Soros referred to Yunus as “an old friend of my father” and praised his leadership during a critical period for Bangladesh.
More recently, on December 10, 2024, Mark Malloch-Brown, a former British Minister and a close associate of George Soros and former president of the Open Society Foundations (OSF), called on Yunus in Dhaka. He congratulated Yunus on his leadership skills and also pledged support for him. The timing of the visit has drawn attention, further solidifying the perceived alignment between Yunus and the Soros network.
The unfolding political dynamics in Bangladesh, coupled with international involvement, have raised significant questions about external influence and its impact on the country’s future. Yunus’s leadership, supported by figures like Alex Soros and Mark Malloch-Brown, will undoubtedly remain a focal point as Bangladesh navigates its current challenges.
Congress Ecosystem and its handshake with Soros
Soros’ connections was not only limited to the Nehru-Gandhi family, rather it seemed that the whole Congress ecosystem has been linked with Soros.
Through his NGO network, Soros has connections with a cultivated class of intellectuals, who work resolutely towards opposing the Modi Government. There are some prominent names with extensive links to George Soros but it is extremely unlikely that these connections will surprise anyone. Some of the most prominent among them are Harsh Mander, Indira Jaising and Amartya Sen.
Mander had earlier been a member of the National Advisory Council (NAC). He was the most powerful entity during the UPA times headed by the then UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who had systematic connections with Soros.
Mander is the Chairman of the OSF’s Human Rights Initiative Advisory Board. His antics against the Government do not need much elaboration. During the recent spate of violence after the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act, Harsh Mander with his organisation ‘Karwaan-e-Mohabbat’ published a report on the violence at the Aligarh Muslim University that absolved the students of all sins and peddled numerous lies against the Uttar Pradesh Police. Later, of course, the entire report turned out to be a massive fraud. Harsh Mander had also promised to register himself as a Muslim if the CAB was passed!
In December 2022, the Income Tax Department sent a 33-pager show cause notice to Centre for Policy Research (CPR) alleging that the think tank was in violation of being involved in activities that were “not in accordance with the objects objectives? and the conditions subject to which it was registered”. The I-T notice asked for an explanation from CPR for receiving donations from a Washington DC-based organisation, Namati, for allegedly using the funds to litigate and file cases. Finding discrepancies, the following year on February 27, 2023, the Government of India cancelled the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA). Registration of CPR was suspended for 180 days on grounds of violations found during the IT Department proceedings. Subsequently, CPR lost its Tax exemption status to the Income Tax department on June 30, 2023. On January 10, 2024, the FCRA license of CPR was canceled for allegedly mis-utilising foreign funds to affect Bharat’s economic interests, and aid protests and legal battles against development projects.
Between 2012 and 2021, Namati partnered with CPR for an environmental justice programme. Namati paid CPR a total of Rs. 11.55 crores between 2016-17 and 2020-21 alone. In the notice to CPR, the IT Department had asserted that the purpose of this programme was for litigation purposes and filing complaints rather than any educational purpose.
Interestingly Centre for Policy Research is a think tank led by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s daughter, Yamini Aiyar! However, after two months when the Government has annulled the CPR’s license, she resigned from it.
And above all noticing the striking point is that George Soros had been in the advisory board of NAMATI also!
The whole Congress ecosystem has been linked with Soros. Through his NGO network, Soros has connections with a cultivated class of intellectuals, who work resolutely towards opposing the Modi Government
Similarly, the annual report of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation for the year 2007-08 lists a rather interesting partner, the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN).
HRLN has its links with associations that are intimately associated with ‘Urban Naxals’ and separatists in Kashmir and elsewhere. The foreign donations are available for HRLN only from 2014-15, therefore, we cannot be sure whether the organisation was receiving foreign funds while it was partners with the RGF.
But its FCRA submissions do reveal that it has been receiving a huge amount of funds from George Soros’ Open Society Institute.
In addition to the Open Society Foundations, the HRLN has also received huge funds from Christian Missionary organisation’s and foreign governments as well. HRLN’s public declaration of funds is also consistent with the
Modi Government’s crackdown on foreign funded organisations and the insistence of the Government on greater transparency.
The HRLN has also been campaigning against Bharatiya sedition laws along with Naxal-linked organisations and has also been providing free legal aid to #Rohingyas who have been living illegally in this country.
In addition to the Open Society Institute, the HRLN has also received huge funds from Christian Missionary organisations and foreign Governments as well.
In addition to Human Rights Law Network, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation also partnered with the Aman Biradari Trust (ABT) as late as 2018-19.
In conclusion, the web of connections between George Soros, his Open Society Foundation, and various individuals and organisations linked to the Congress party highlights the potential influence of external forces in Bharat’s socio-political landscape. From historical familial ties with the Nehru-Gandhi family to the active involvement of Congress-affiliated entities in anti-government narratives, these associations underscore a concerning pattern that demands scrutiny.
The alignment of these organisations and individuals with agendas that challenge Bharat’s sovereignty and national interests raises critical questions about the motivations and implications of such alliances. As Bharat continues its journey towards development and self-reliance, it is imperative for the public and policymakers to remain vigilant against any forces—domestic or foreign—that seek to destabilise its progress. Transparency, accountability, and a commitment to safeguarding national interests must be prioritised to ensure that Bharat’s democratic and developmental aspirations are not getting undermined by hidden agendas.
