RANCHI: Expressing his confidence on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s win Jharkhand exit polls, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election-in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday, November 21, said that the state could touch new dimensions of development and progress under BJP’s rule.

Speaking to the media, he said “Jharkhand is a wonderful state. The nice and naive people here have given affection and love. Jharkhand is rich in resources. There is so much here that the state can touch really new dimensions of development and progress. I strongly believe that the BJP government will form here. This is a very rich land and I am sure the poverty can be eradicated from here. I am grateful to the people of Jharkhand for all their love. May Jharkhand rise and make progress under Narendra Modi.”

Jharkhand BJP state President Babulal Marandi said that the Hemant Soren government had looted Jharkhand for five years.

“Hemant Soren has looted Jharkhand for the last five years. There is corruption from top to bottom. People were upset with that. Law and order has collapsed, no development work has been done, Bangladeshi Rohingya Muslims are infiltrating and are being made citizens here. Properties are being made in the name of the Rohingyas, so people are angry,” Marandi said.

Earlier today, the BJP election-in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the BJP leader and workers as the voting for the Jharkhand assembly elections came to an end.

Elections were held in two phases for 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand.

According to three exit polls Jharkhand is likely to see a change of government with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance coming to power in the state, while one poll gives the majority to the ruling JMM-led alliance. According to the Chanakya Strategies exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is likely to win 45-50 seats in the state while the JMM-led alliance could win 35-38 seats. It said others could get 3-5 seats.

Peoples Pulse exit poll said that the NDA may get 44-53 seats, the JMM-led alliance 25-37 seats and others 5-9 seats.

Polling for the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections across 38 constituencies in 12 districts concluded on Wednesday, recording an approximate voter turnout of 67.59 per cent till 5 pm.

The first phase of the Jharkhand polls was held in 43 of 81 assembly seats on November 13. The results for all 81 constituencies will be declared on November 23, alongside those for Maharashtra Assembly elections and bypolls across several states. (ANI)
