NEW DELHI: In honour of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Government of India has designated October 31, 2024, as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). In order to create awareness among the youth and make the event a memorable one, the University Grants Commission has taken the initiative wherein it has request the Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

By participating in this event, these institutions can demonstrate their dedication to promoting unity and integrity, helping to protect the nation against any challenges it may face. This active involvement not only honors the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel but also inspires students and staff to embrace these important principles in their daily lives.

To commemorate this significant occasion, HEIs are requested to organize the following activities:

Run for Unity: To spread the message of national unity, a “Run for Unity” event can be organized at suitable locations. This initiative aims to involve individuals from all walks of life, fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility toward national unity.

HEIs are also encouraged to document and share their activities related to Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Photos and videos of the events can be uploaded to the UAMP portal of the University Grants Commission (UGC) at https://uamp.ugc.ac.in/. This will not only promote the initiatives taken by various institutions but also inspire others to partake in similar celebrations.

The celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is not merely a ceremonial observance; it is a reaffirmation of our collective strength and commitment to uphold the unity and integrity of our nation.
