HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid out an ambitious roadmap for drone technology in the state at the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024, held in Vijayawada. Addressing a diverse audience of innovators, drone manufacturers, and industry experts, CM Naidu shared his vision of positioning Andhra Pradesh as a national leader in drone technology.

The Chief Minister made several landmark announcements, including the allocation of 300 acres in Orvakallu, Kurnool district, for establishing a dedicated drone hub. “Amaravati will become the drone capital of India, with Andhra Pradesh leading the way in this technology,” he declared. This initiative is designed to boost drone manufacturing, foster innovation, and propel research and development across the state.

In an unprecedented achievement, the summit’s highlight was the Amaravati Drone Show, which broke five Guinness World Records. The show featured a breathtaking display of 5,500 drones synchronised to form various formations in the night sky, with a depiction of a 1911 postal stamp as a tribute to India’s heritage.

CM Naidu also announced a plan to train 35,000 drone pilots, aiming to develop Andhra Pradesh as a leading hub of skilled drone professionals. “This workforce will cater to the growing demand for drone technology across industries, giving Andhra Pradesh an edge in the sector,” he explained. He further assured that the State Government will release a comprehensive drone policy within the next 15 days, aimed at creating a business-friendly environment for manufacturers and tech innovators.

Inviting stakeholders to use Andhra Pradesh as a testing ground for their drone projects, CM Naidu emphasised the State’s commitment to supporting pilot projects, which, if successful, could be implemented on a national scale. The summit marked a decisive step forward in Andhra Pradesh’s vision of a technology-driven future, setting a bold example for the rest of the country.
