Kerala: Bank of India staff union pays tribute to Pervez Musharraf on Kargil Diwas, BMS condemns the act

The Bank of India Staff Union (Kerala) has come under fire after its decision to felicitate former Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf at the 23rd State Conference sparked outrage and protests. However, this move drew strong condemnation from the National Organisation of Bank Workers and the National Organisation of Bank Officers, who accused the Bank of India Staff Union (Kerala) of displaying an anti-national character

The Bank of India Staff Union (Kerala) finds itself embroiled in controversy after its decision to felicitate former Pakistani president Gen. Pervez Musharraf at their 23rd State Conference sparked widespread outrage and protests. Following the backlash, the union was compelled to remove Musharraf’s name from the list of honorees.

The working document released by the bank union’s state committee revealed their plan to pay tribute to Musharraf during the state conference held on July 27 in Alappuzha. The Bank of India Staff Union, which is influenced by the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), had included the former Pakistani president’s name in the list of departed dignitaries to be honored.

The posters and pamphlets came to the light on July 26 when the country observed Vijaya Diwas and paid tributes to our valiant soldiers who sacrificed their life in Kargil war 1999. This is despite the undisputed historical  fact that Pakistan army, disguised as Kashmiris, infiltrated into Kargil hills on the orders of the then Pakistan Army Chief Pervez Musharraf.

The National Organisation of Bank Workers and the National Organisation of Bank Officers condemn the union’s alleged anti-national character. In a statement, they express their outrage at the union’s decision to pay tribute to former Pakistani president Gen. Pervez Musharraf, especially since it occurred just one day after Kargil Vijay Divas.

The statement further asserts that honouring Musharraf is not only disrespectful but also an insult to the ex-servicemen, some of whom actively participated in the Kargil War and are currently employed in the banking sector. The organisations condemn this act as anti-national and express their anguish over the incident.

Additionally, the Bankers’ Voice, in a statement posted on X, accuses the union’s parent body, AlBEA, of having a history of supporting anti-national elements. They highlight instances such as passing a resolution against donating blood to Indian soldiers during the Indo-China conflict and supporting the Tukde Tukde Gang, as well as making donations to Palestinians who actively support HAMAS, a globally recognized terrorist organization.

We strongly condemn the anti-national act of the Bank of India Staff Union [Kerala], an affiliate of @FBEU_AIBEA , for remembering Parvez Musharraf, the mastermind of the Kargil infiltration.

Such actions insult the sacrifices of our brave soldiers and the spirit of Kargil Vijay… pic.twitter.com/P85W8GnGsf

In light of these concerns, the National Organisation of Bank Workers and the National Organisation of Bank Officers call upon the Finance Ministry to intervene immediately and initiate a thorough investigation. They urge the Bank of India to expel the employees involved in the meeting, stressing that their actions insult the brave martyrs, and demand that the bank promptly derecognize the trade union. The organisations also request the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) to inform the Government of India authorities and ensure appropriate action is taken.

During the Kargil war, the Indian armed forces had recaptured our positions on the LoC despite facing international diplomatic opposition. Five hundred twenty seven Bharatiya soldiers martyred; More than 4,000 Pak men were killed in the war. It had been disclosed by the then Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Pak forces withdrew from all remaining Bharatiya positions along the LoC, thanks to the powerful and fierce military operations of our patriotic forces.

Initially Pak Government claimed that the infiltration was conducted by Mujahideen, the Islamic ‘holy warriors’. After several months, the very same Pak regime admitted its role in the infiltration (hence the war) by decorating some of its army men who were killed in the Kargil fight. However, Sharif stated that Gen. Musharaff prepared the war plans sans his (Sharif’s) government’s knowledge.

The Kargil war officially came to an end on July 26, 1999. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had declared on July 14, that  our ‘Operation Vijay’ was a victory.

Gen. Musharraf was born in Delhi, the capital of the undivided Bharat. His ultimate aim was the elimination of Bharat from the world map. He stabbed Bharat in the back close on the heels of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s goodwill bus travel to Lahore to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Musharraf even urged to use nuclear weapons against our country. In 2001, Musharraf staged a military coup and took over as the country’s president.

Bank of India, a nationalised bank having 5,000 branches throughout the country, is having its head quarters in Mumbai. Keralites hope that bank authorities would take action, against the union leaders, in this issue. Patriots are hurt and upset by this anti-national move which suits traitors.

Interestingly Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal MP was  scheduled to inaugurate the conference.

People of Kerala are not surprised with this communist move. Because, they know that communists always support anti-national forces with an excuse of secularism and internationalism. They always attack nationalist thoughts. They blame that it is Hindutwa and RSS ideology. They support Hamas terrorists. They carried out demonstrations in Kerala in support of Sadam Hussein during Iraq war. They cannot stomach the ban on Popular Front of India (PFI), so they blame RSS to establish that ‘majority communalism’ is equally dangerous.
