Security forces in Chhattisgarh tasted major success on Wednesday, July 24 as three female cadres of the proscribed Communist Party of India (Maoist) carrying significant rewards turned themselves before the authorities and bid a farewell to the outlaws.
Those who joined the mainstream have been identified as Deputy Commander Moti Payam alias Yamla, Lakshmi Podde and Sanchila Mandavi, all members of the Bharmagarh Area Committee of the Gadchiroli division of the banned outfit. The surrender took place in presence of the officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) and police.
All the surrendered cadres were associated with the outlaws for past nine years and were involved in various unlawful activities including of carrying out attacks on the police party, participating in Jan Adalat, a self-styled court of the Maoists and others illegal works on behest of the Maoist outfit.
For her involvement in various criminal activities a reward of Rs 5 lakh was announced on Moti Payam while the other two cadres were carrying a reward of Rs one lakh each, informed officials. All the surrendered cadres have been provided with a financial aid of Rs 25000 each.
Those who have parted ways with the outlaws were inspired by the surrender and rehabilitation policy. They also expressed satisfaction upon returning to the mainstream citing discrimination and exploitation in day to day affairs in the Maoist group.
The surrender of the female cadres arrived on the heels of security forces nabbing another Maoist cadre in Aranpur of Dantewada district. The arrested accused has been identified as Ayata Markam who has been carrying a reward of Rs one lakh.

Markam was reported to be involved in cases linked to murder of villages, detonating IEDs and attacks on security forces for which a total of 8 cases have been pending against him in separate police stations. He was nabbed in a joint operation conducted by District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters.
It is noteworthy that security forces have tightened the grip on the Maoist outfit in the hinterlands of Bastar and other adjoining areas of Chhattisgarh prompting a number of Maoist cadres to surrender before the authorities amidst the mounting pressure of forces.
