Krishigati, founded in 2021 embarked on its journey with a bold mission to revolutionise Indian agriculture through technology and innovation. Co-founded by Tukaram Sonawane and Sonali Weljali, Krishigati aimed to address the longstanding challenges faced by farmers, including inefficient resource management, limited access to modern farming techniques, and the unpredictability of agricultural practices. They want to provide sustainable and value-added products and services to marginal farmers with the pure intent to make their activities and lives easier than they currently are.

From its inception, Krishigati was driven by a vision to empower farmers with advanced technological solutions. The founders, passionate about both agriculture and technology, recognised the potential of AI, machine learning, and IoT in transforming farming practices. Their goal was not only to increase agricultural productivity but also to ensure sustainability and improve farmers’ livelihoods across India.

Krishigati encountered numerous challenges typical of the agritech sector. Access to technology and digital literacy among farmers posed initial barriers. Moreover, traditional farming methods often prevailed, hindering the adoption of modern practices. Gathering real-time data for precise decision-making was another challenge, given the diverse and vast agricultural landscapes in India.

Despite these challenges, Krishigati made significant strides by focusing on technological integration and tailored solutions for farmers. The startup introduced smart farming techniques that enabled farmers to monitor soil health, optimise irrigation schedules, manage pests effectively, and make data-driven decisions. This innovation not only enhanced crop yields but also reduced input costs and environmental impact, promoting sustainable agriculture.

Today, Krishigati stands as a leader in India’s agritech sector, recognised for its innovative solutions and positive impact on agriculture. The startup has expanded its reach through partnerships with agricultural cooperatives, government initiatives, and private sector collaborations. By leveraging its expertise in AI and IoT, Krishigati continues to empower farmers with actionable insights, real-time weather updates, and advisory services tailored to local agricultural conditions. They want to reduce farming costs by 20-60 per cent  and help double the income of small farmers, supporting the goals of the Department of Agriculture, Government of India.

Krishigati’s success is evident in its ability to transform agricultural practices, improve farm productivity, and uplift rural communities. As it continues to innovate and grow, Krishigati remains committed to advancing sustainable agriculture and contributing to India’s food security goals in the years to come.
