US Republican JD Vance blasts President Biden for his ‘xenophobic’ remarks on allies India and Japan

The Vice-Presidential Candidate nominated by former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump, JD Vance, has slammed Joe Biden for his ‘xenophobic’ comments on India and Japan despite the basic fact that they are highly instrumental in tackling China in the Indo-Pacific and other domains

In response to US President Joe Biden’s xenophobic remark about India and Japan, made in the month of May this year, the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate JD Vance criticised him and said that “Biden insults out two most important allies in countering China all because they don’t believe in open borders.” This guy’s foreign policy is an absolute “clown show.” Biden called the two nations “xenophobic” as both of them are struggling economically and they don’t want immigrants adding China and Russia to the list.

‘Immigrants are what makes us strong, Biden told the crowd of supporters. Not a joke, that’s not hyperbole, because we have an influx of workers who want to be here and want to contribute.

In addition to this, Biden also condemned Republican Donald Trump, for supporting and promoting racist and xenophobic policies. The comments have the potential to be a diplomatic irritant for the administration which has spent years courting the governments of both India and Japan as part of the president’s strategy to counter China’s aggression in the region. Japan and India are two of the five allies Biden has hosted with state dinners at the White House since taking office.

John F Kirby, the national security spokesman at the White House told reporters that Biden was trying to make a comment about US immigrant DNA and not insult other countries. And he insisted that officials in Japan and India understand that. “Our allies and partners know well in tangible ways of how Biden values them, their friendship and their cooperation,” Kirby said.

During an interview with an American news agency, on July 16, 2024, Vance has branded the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) or China as the biggest threat to the US. The Republican went on to say that “We has forgot one crucial lesson from World War-II that military power is downstream of industrial power.

We are still right now the world’s military superpower largely because of our industrial might from the 1980s and 1990s. But China is a more powerful country industrially than we are, which means that they will have powerful military in 20 years,” he said. Trump has strong views on China especially through the lens of trade, manufacturing and security.

Vance meanwhile has often said the focus should be on protecting Taiwan from China rather than supplying Ukraine with more ammunition to fight the Russian invasion. In past interviews, Vance said that the US should make it as costly and as hard as possible for China to invade Taiwan.
