Hubli:  The CID  police have submitted a 483-page chargesheet to the court detailing the murder of Neha Hiremath, highlighting the desperation of the accused, Mohammed  Fayaz, as the primary motive. The chargesheet does not mention any ideas related to “love jihad.”

The extensive chargesheet includes 99 testimonies, featuring statements from Neha’s family members—father, mother, brother—classmates, friends, and lecturers from BVB College. Additional evidence includes eyewitness accounts, CCTV footage, documents, post-mortem reports, and expert forensic analyses.

Fayaz faces charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 302( Death penalty or life imprisonment) 341( wrongful restraint)  506 (   threats to life) The chargesheet outlines the relationship between Fayaz and Neha. Both were classmates during their BCA studies at PC Jobin College, Hubli, in 2020-21. Initially friends, their relationship developed into a romantic one in 2022. However, by March 2024, their relationship soured, leading Neha to cease communication with Fayaz, which deeply frustrated him.

On April 18, 2024, around 4:40 pm, Fayaz, in a fit of rage, attacked Neha with a knife, resulting in her death. Eyewitnesses reported hearing Fayaz shout, “Are you cheating after loving me for so long? Will you not marry me? I will not leave you now,” as he attacked her, leaving the knife at the scene before fleeing.

The chargesheet details Fayaz’s premeditated actions leading up to the murder. Fayaz had planned to kill Neha in Dharwad, where he purchased a hat and a knife three days prior, on April 15, 2024. CCTV footage captured him buying the knife from Arya Super Bazaar and a red hat from New Sai Garment. On the day of the murder, Fayaz wore the red cap and a black mask, bought from Shri Hanuman Medical Shop, to conceal his identity while at BVB College.

Key pieces of evidence collected by the police include  Neha’s blood samples, A 15 cm stainless steel knife,- Neha’s Wild Craft Company airbag ,- Her ID card, pen, pencil, another airbag, and a OnePlus mobile phone

Additionally, items brought by Fayaz on the day of the murder, such as a Honda Activa scooter, pen drives, and other belongings, were seized during the investigation.

The chargesheet provides a comprehensive account of the events leading up to and following the murder, supported by substantial evidence and witness testimonies. The case against Fayaz will proceed with these findings, emphasising the gravity of his actions and the impact on Neha Hiremath’s family and community.

The murder Neha , daughter of Hubli-dharwad congress corporator Niranjan Hiremat has triggered widespread protests across state alleging Love Jihad. Hindu outfits and BJP organized  huge protests across state prompted to hand over case to  CID.
