MP Horror: Post-Bakrid, 53 Gaumata found dead in Seoni, some had their heads severed others have their limbs chopped

In a disturbing incident aimed at hurting Hindu religious sentiments, over 53 remains of cows, revered as Gaumata, were discovered across three different locations in Madhya Pradesh. These remains were not only mutilated but also dumped into the sacred waters of the Wainganga River, exacerbating the community’s distress.

Upon receiving reports, the local police quickly summoned a veterinary doctor to examine the carcasses.

Following the examination, the remains were respectfully buried, and a prompt investigation was initiated.

The gruesome discovery included 19 cow carcasses found in the Wainganga River near Pindari in the Seoni district, with an additional 32 dead cows found in another area. Many of the cows had their heads severed and limbs chopped, with other body parts strewn in the forest.

Local villagers assisted the police in retrieving and burying the remains. They reported that such an incident was unprecedented in the region and speculated that the remains might have been carried by the river. Some believe the recent crackdown on slaughterhouses led to the disposal of cow remains in various locations to evade police action. However, the exact cause remains under investigation.

Superintendent of Police Rakesh Sinha assured the public that the police are intensifying efforts against cow smugglers. “All eyes are on them, and those who are illegally smuggling have been caught,” he stated. Outraged locals have demanded swift action to identify and prosecute those responsible.

A local Hindu activist attributed the timing of the incident to the recent observance of Bakrid by the minority community, suggesting it was an intentional act by the Muslim community to offend Hindus. He called for a CBI inquiry and severe actions against the culprits, including bulldozer action. He warned of massive protests if the demands were not met.

SP Sinha emphasised, “We are examining the issue from all angles and will soon identify those behind it and arrest them.” Efforts to retrieve all carcasses from the river are ongoing, despite challenges posed by recent rains.

Seoni Collector Kshitij Singhal confirmed that the administration is thoroughly investigating the incident and vowed stern action against those involved.

BJP district president Alok Dubey condemned the act as “cruel and highly condemnable.” He assured that senior party leaders had been informed and discussions with officials were underway.

Dubey highlighted the significant distress caused to the Hindu community and suggested the incident was an attempt by anti-social elements to disrupt district harmony.
