In Ranchi, Jharkhand, three Bangladeshi women arrested for illegal entry into India using forged Aadhaar cards have been granted bail by the court. The court ordered their release on a personal bond of 10,000 rupees each, with instructions to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and not to change their mobile numbers during this period. The women had been detained after authorities discovered their use of counterfeit identification documents.
The case against the three women unfolded when a Bangladeshi girl reached the Bariatu police station and informed the police that she had been brought to Ranchi from Bangladesh for prostitution. Following her statement, the police recovered two other Bangladeshi girls. All three were subsequently sent to jail on June 5. A bail petition was filed on their behalf, and during the hearing, their advocate presented their case, leading to their release on bail.
In a separate case, five individuals arrested from a spa centre on Circular Road in Ranchi have also been granted bail. The court of Chief Justice Diwakar Pandey heard the bail plea of the five accused, who were customers at the spa centre. The court granted bail to Rakesh Ranjan, Aryaman Kumar Azad, Rohan, and Rishi Banka, while denying bail to the spa operator Gaurav Agarwal and other employees involved in running the prostitution ring under the guise of a spa.
The arrests at the spa centre followed a raid by the Lalpur police on June 2, based on a tip-off. During the raid, 14 people were detained, including some women. Among those arrested were two girls from Thailand, two from Delhi, two from Bengal, and one from Ranchi. The police recovered objectionable items during the operation and filed an FIR regarding the incident.
Earlier incidents in Ranchi highlight the pervasive issue of human trafficking. Three Bangladeshi girls and one from Bengal managed to escape from traffickers at Bali Resort in Bariatu, where they were held captive and coerced into prostitution. Despite the arrests, individuals named Jhuma, Manisha, and Hasi Akhtar remain at large, prompting continued police efforts to apprehend their accomplices. These incidents underscore the urgent need for stringent enforcement and increased awareness to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
