Jaish-e-Mohammad threatens to blow up Ram Mandir in Ayodhya: Security agencies on high alert

The Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has issued a threat to blow up the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The threat was made through audio, leading to heightened security measures around the temple. Security agencies are currently on high alert and have launched a thorough investigation.

The audio message from JeM referenced a previous attack on the Ram Mandir in 2001, escalating fears of a potential new assault. Following the security alert, temple protection has significantly increased.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, terrorists affiliated with Pakistan have issued threats of further attacks in India after the inauguration of the Ram Mandir. These threats target “Hindutva forces” and notable figures who attended the inauguration event on January 22.

One came from Farhatullah Ghauri, a fugitive Indian terrorist accused of multiple terror crimes, and the other from The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Both threats condemned the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla, describing it as a “satanic incident,” and called for acts of revenge.

Ghauri, 60, released a video titled “Ram Mandir: Declaration of War,” which calls for jihad against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), to turn India into an Islamic nation. The video features Ghauri’s voice alongside images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and former BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, who previously made controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad in 2022. The video also threatens media personnel.

In the propaganda video, Ghauri expressed frustration over the declining support for terror activities from cities such as Mumbai, Bhatkal, Azamgarh, and Hyderabad. The video includes images of the Ram Mandir, hand grenades, knives, suicide jackets, bullets, guns, and bulldozers razing houses. Ghauri also criticised liberal Muslim figures, such as Aurangabad-based scholar Faiz Syed and former parliamentarian Mahmood Asad Madani, labelling them as “sellouts” for denouncing jihad.

Security experts believe that Pakistan-based terrorist groups might exploit the temple’s inauguration to manipulate vulnerable youths into supporting their agenda in India.

Earlier in January, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested two men, Tahar Singh and Om Prakash Mishra, from the Gonda district. They were accused of threatening to blow up the Ram Mandir, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and STF ADG Amitabh Yash on social media using fake IDs. According to the STF, Singh and Mishra acted on instructions from Devendra Tewari, who allegedly promised them political gain in return for their actions.

The authorities remain vigilant, and investigating these threats is ongoing to ensure the safety and security of the Ram Mandir and its visitors.
