A scene of brutality unfolded in Ismailpur village, located in Haryana’s Faridabad district. On the night of June 5, shortly after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results, a shocking discovery was made: 16 cows had been brutally slashed with a sharp object. This act has prompted an immediate investigation and calls for justice, as the welfare of these innocent animals is of significant concern for both the villagers and authorities.

The distressing scene was uncovered by Archana Upadhyay, an animal activist, who was alerted by locals about an injured cow. To her shock, she discovered multiple cows subjected to similar attacks. The injuries inflicted were severe, with deep, sharp slashes that exposed bones, indicating the brutality of the assault.

In the complaint lodged by Upadhyay at the Palla police station, it was reported that at least 16 cows were discovered with serious injuries. She urged the authorities to charge the attackers under laws against cruelty to animals and the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015. Although the culprits have not been identified yet, the severity of the attacks has led to calls for a thorough investigation.

Ravi Dubey, the founder of Aastha Animal Hospital, where the injured cattle are receiving treatment, expressed his shock and anger regarding the incident. He described the injuries as horrifying and condemned the unimaginable cruelty inflicted upon these poor animals.

Dubey stated that the injuries appear to have been inflicted by a butcher’s knife. He urged a thorough investigation, questioning whether the attacks were connected to the election results. “What is the purpose behind slashing the cows with such cruelty? Was this done to disturb the peace, especially in light of the recent elections? The police must investigate it properly,” he said.

In the elections, Krishan Pal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Faridabad parliamentary constituency by a wide margin of over 1.7 lakh votes against Mahender Pratap Singh of the Congress party. This win comes after his victory in 2019, where he secured an even larger margin of over five lakh votes.

The station house officer (SHO) of Palla police station stated that the investigation is ongoing and no conclusions can be drawn yet. “We are looking into all possible angles,” the SHO said. “It’s too early to say anything definitive.” “As the investigation continues, residents and animal rights activists across the region are waiting anxiously for justice,” Dubey said.
