Security forces are intensifying their operations to recover illegal arms and weapons held by miscreants in the strife-ridden areas of Manipur, aiming to quell the ongoing violence and restore law and order

Imphal: It’s been one year since the Manipur conflict and peace is still not fully restored in the tiny North Eastern state. Both the Union Government and the Manipur BJP government are relentlessly trying to restore peace and normalcy in the strife-ridden state, but huge numbers of arms looted by miscreants are still with miscreants and civilians, which is causing a major security issue.

Security forces are stepping up their operations to recover illegal arms and weapons possessed by miscreants in trouble-hit Manipur to completely end the Manipur violence. Thousands of arms and ammunition were looted by miscreants and militants during the violence in the state.

Search operations and area dominance were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During the search operations on May 5, security forces seized one Carbine with two magazines, one 9mm Pistol with magazine, 04 36 HE grenade live, 50  rounds of live ammunition, and 05 PEK sticks of IED weighing approximately. 750 grammes, 06 SLR tube launchers, 75 detonators, eight 36 Hand Grenade arming rings, 02 Ballistic cartridges, 01 Tear shell, 01C90 MK 3 grenade, two 80 grenade MK-1(WP), and warlike storage from Aimol village and Irengbam Maning in Bishnupur District. On May 3 security forces conducted search operations and area dominations and recovered 1 Carbine Machine Gun with Magazine, 2 9mm Pistol with magazine, two HE-36 Hand grenades, one IED (500gm), and sixteen Ammunition from Nakhujang Village Hill Range, Kangpokpi District.

Same-day search operations and area dominations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. One CMG with an empty Magazine, one 9mm Pistol with an empty magazine, four HE-36 grenades, one 51 mm Mortar illumination shell, one 2-inch Mortar Shell, sixty live ammunition, and two Baofeng radio sets from Sangaithel, Imphal West District.

On May search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During the search operations bunkers were constructed by militants and items were destroyed by the forces. Six single-barrel guns, one hundred two 12 Bore cartridges, and four walkie-talkie radios with chargers were recovered by the forces.

Security Forces also arrested two cadres of the proscribed outfit PREPAK (Pro) identified as  Naoroibam Joyshangker @ Loyumba @ Khougang (39 yrs) and  Thingom Suresh @ Boy (38 years) from Lairikyengbam Leikai and Khurai Chaithabi Leirak, Imphal East District. From their possession, two 9mm Pistol with magazines, and one.32 .32 Pistol with Magazines were seized by police. It should be mentioned that, despite one year of

In the Manipur conflict, the security forces and authorities were able to successfully conduct the Lok Sabha election in 2024 almost peacefully. The two-phase election concluded on April 19 and April 26 for both Inner and Outer Manipur constituencies.
