Jharkhand police in a joint operation have unearthed a hideout alongside arresting a women accused from Palamu district of Jharkhand on Friday, informed police. The development occurred hours after the Maoist pasted handwritten posters in the area before the Lok Sabha polls.
The joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police raided the house of Akhilesh Yadav in Ghaghra village under Hussainabad police station limits on Thursday and apprehended Anju Devi.
The raid was conducted following the police received intel about the presence of Nitesh Yadav, zonal commander of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) who is suspected to be behind pasting the poster at separate locations under the Haider Nagar police station limits of Palamu. The joint team during the raid has also seized small quantity of explosive materials from the house.
Earlier the Palamu police in a significant catch had also arrested a Maoist operatives along with his accomplice from the Naso Jamalpur village under the Hussainabad police station limits on April 26.
The arrested accused were part of the Nitesh Yadav’s gang and were planning to cause disturbance in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, informed police. The police team had also seized as many as 4 country-made Bharmar guns from the possession of the accused.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that poster related to Maoist have surfaced before the polls and similar banners and posters had also surfaced before the second phase of elections in the Maoist-hit areas of Chhattisgarh where the outlaws had given a call to boycott the elections. Earlier the ultras had also hung banners alongside pasting posters under the Jaraikela police station of West Singhbhum districts.
Security forces gears up for elections
Meanwhile the security forces in Jharkhand have been keeping a vigil watch on the Maoist movement in the insurgency-hit regions of the State ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Recently security has been also beefed up ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi two days visit to the State where the PM is set to address a political gathering in Palamu, on Saturday, May 04.
The general elections in the State this time marks its significance as it is only after a significant gap of over two decades that the administration along with the security forces are gearing up to hold elections in pockets of Budha Pahad, a long held bastion of Maoist which was declared an insurgency-free zone last year.
