In the intricate tapestry of Ayurvedic sciences, the interconnection between nature and humanity is a cornerstone belief. Ayurveda posits that true health encompasses emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being, achieved through balanced Doshas.

Central to Ayurveda are the three Doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – and the art of harmonising them with nature’s bounty. Over 10,000 years ago, Ayurvedic oils emerged as potent therapeutic tools. Even today, their efficacy and gentle yet profound benefits endure. Crafted by infusing carrier oils like coconut, almond, or castor oil with healing herbs such as turmeric, tulsi, brahmi, and rosemary, Ayurvedic oils embody nature’s nurturing embrace. The ancient wisdom prescribes their application through Abhyanga, an Ayurvedic self-massage technique that fosters self-love and healing.

Ayurvedic oils act as conduits of nourishment and balance, permeating the skin and scalp to enrich our biome and harmonise Doshas. Embracing the ethos of self-care, Ayurveda underscores the body’s innate wisdom in signalling imbalances and needs.

Tailored to each Dosha, Ayurvedic oils offer targeted benefits:

Vata Dosha

Sesame oil is highly beneficial in balancing vata dosha properties. It helps better the flow of Prana and through the body and strengthens the Ojas levels (energy behind the immune system). You can pair this oil with wheat germ

Pitta Dosha

For Pitta Dosha, you can use Coconut oil or Brahmi oil. Coconut oil acts as a coolant and helps balance the pitta in the body. Brahmi oil helps calm and balance the mind. You can pair coconut oil with frankincense.

Kapha Dosha

Mustard oil and/or castor oil are ideal for Kapha Dosha. Ayurveda recommends warm oils for the Kapha Dosha, such as the one mentioned above. People with Kapha Dosha should practice abhyanga less than those with Vata or Pitta Dosha.

Ayurvedic oils offer a myriad of benefits, including promoting better sleep, nourishing hair and skin, and fostering a calm mind. As our mind finds solace and rest, our body undergoes profound healing. This underscores the paramount importance of incorporating naturally made Ayurvedic oils into our wellness routines.
