Guwahati: Addressing public rallies in Assam’s Kokrajhar, Udalguri, and Dudhnoi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda highlighted the alleged involvement of INDI Alliance leaders in corruption scandals and emphasising the development initiatives undertaken by the Modi government in the Northeast region.
Nadda began by drawing attention to the legal troubles faced by leaders of the INDI Alliance, stating that many of them are either out on bail or in jail facing charges related to corruption and scams. He accused the opposition of prioritising vote bank politics over the welfare and development of the public.
“In the I.N.D.I Alliance, leaders are either out on bail or facing charges of corruption and scams. Their track record indicates a pattern of involvement in scams spanning from space to earth,” Nadda remarked, setting the tone for his address.
During his speech, Nadda praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to bring peace and development to the Northeast while integrating the region with the mainstream. He lauded the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord in January 2020, which brought stability to Kokrajhar, a region previously marred by conflict and unrest.
Highlighting the neglect by previous governments, Nadda underscored the transformative changes brought about by the Modi government in the Northeast. He mentioned the significant reduction in insurgency and civilian casualties, attributing it to the government’s focus on development and security measures.
“Previously, there was a perception among people in the Northeast that ‘Dilli Dur Hai,’ indicating a sense of distance from the central government,. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, development efforts have instilled a new belief among the people of the Northeast, transforming the notion to ‘Na Dilli Dur Hai, Na Aap Dil se Dur Hai’,” Nadda emphasised, highlighting the government’s efforts to bridge the gap between the Northeast and the rest of the country.
Nadda highlighted various development initiatives undertaken by the Modi government in the Northeast, including infrastructure projects such as highways, internet connectivity, railways, and airports. He emphasised the government’s commitment to advancing the region’s economic growth and connectivity with the rest of the country.
“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has visited the North East region 70 times over the span of 10 years, surpassing the total visits made by all previous Prime Ministers combined,” Nadda revealed, showcasing the government’s focus on the region.
“India has surpassed Japan to become the world’s third-largest automobile market, 97% of mobile manufacturing now takes place in India, and chemical exports have grown by 106%,” Nadda stated proudly, highlighting the government’s efforts to boost domestic manufacturing and exports.
Turning his focus to the opposition, Nadda accused leaders of the INDI Alliance, as well as other opposition parties, of being involved in corruption scandals. He listed several high-profile cases, including the Commonwealth Games, Coalgate, 2G-3G, AgustaWestland, Rice, Sugar, and Submarine scams, alleging that the Congress and other parties have been involved in corruption across various sectors.
“The Congress party’s approach was perceived as ignorant and isolating the Northeast, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has prioritised connecting the region to mainland India through various development initiatives, thereby fostering integration and progress,” Nadda criticised, contrasting the government’s proactive approach with the perceived neglect of previous administrations.
Nadda specifically called out leaders from different opposition parties who are either out on bail or facing legal proceedings, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, P. Chidambaram, Lalu Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, and others. He criticised the opposition for allegedly shielding corrupt leaders and prioritising their own interests over the welfare of the public.
“Leaders from various opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, P. Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram, Lalu Yadav, Sanjay Singh, and others, are out on bail. Additionally, prominent figures like Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, AAP Leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, SP leader Azam Khan, as well as leaders and ministers from TMC and DMK, are currently in jail,” Nadda highlighted, underscoring the alleged involvement of opposition leaders in legal troubles.
Despite the opposition’s focus on vote bank politics, Nadda expressed confidence in the electorate’s awareness and support for the Modi government’s development agenda. He predicted a significant victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Assam, citing the enthusiastic support from the crowd as a testament to the anticipated electoral success.
In conclusion, Nadda reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to inclusive development and good governance, urging voters to support the BJP and ensure the return of the Modi government with a stronger mandate. He concluded with slogans of ‘Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar’ and ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’, expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
