Islamists raise Palestine flag at Malegaon on Eid; FIR filed against Maran Khan, Sheikh Shakeel and two others

In a surprising turn of events, during the celebrations of Ramzan Eid in Malegaon, Nashik district of Maharashtra, a man hoisted the Palestinian flag amidst a crowd gathered for mass prayers at the police drill ground. This incident has sparked concern among local authorities and the administration, leading to heightened security measures in the area.

According to available information, on the occasion of Ramzan Eid, Muslim brothers congregated for prayers at 14 locations across Malegaon and Nashik district. However, during the mass prayers at the police drill ground, an individual unfurled the flag of Palestine. The main prayer event was organised under the leadership of AIMIM legislator Maulana Mufti Ismail.

Also, members of the MDF were seen with placards supporting Palestine. These people were openly denouncing the Indian government for standing with Israel.

In wake of this incident, a First Information Report was filed by Aman Pardeshi and Shyam Devere Yani. Understanding the gravity of the matter, the police swung into action and four Islamists who have been named in the FIR are Sheikh Bashid Sheikh Imam, Mohammad Ehtesham Mohammad Jamil, Maran Khan, and Sheikh Shakeel

Reacting to the incident, Maulana Mufti Ismail emphasised that the prayers were organised without any political agenda, and the act of hoisting the flag does not align with the objectives of the gathering.

The act has sparked debates and discussions within the community, highlighting the complexities surrounding political symbolism and religious observances.
