Imphal: In a fervent display of political resolve, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his election campaign rallies in Manipur and Tripura on April 15, underscored the BJP-led central government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and fostering development in the northeastern states. With the Lok Sabha elections looming large, Home Minister Shah’s speeches resonated with themes of unity, progress, and cultural preservation, encapsulating the BJP’s vision for a harmonious and prosperous future in Manipur and Tripura.

Addressing a mammoth gathering in Imphal, Shah minced no words in affirming that the BJP’s top priority is to quell the ethnic strife that has plagued Manipur for months. Emphasising the need to thwart attempts aimed at disrupting the state’s unity, senior BJP leader Shah outlined the government’s strategy to engage all communities in the pursuit of lasting peace. Central to this approach is the preservation of Manipur’s unique demography, which home minister Shah warned was under threat from persistent infiltration efforts. Promising to uphold the integrity of the state while championing inclusive development, HM Shah called upon the electorate to rally behind BJP and NDA candidates in the upcoming elections as a testament to their commitment to Manipur’s future.

Home Minister Amit Shah framed the upcoming Lok Sabha election as a decisive battle between forces striving to fracture Manipur and those steadfastly dedicated to preserving its unity. With a pointed critique aimed at the Congress party, Shah accused them of perpetuating a divisive agenda, citing historical instances of nationwide partition and ongoing attempts to sow regional discord. Refusing to yield to such divisive tactics, Shah vowed to safeguard Manipur’s integrity at all costs, declaring resolutely, “We will never allow Manipur to break.”

Amidst the fervour of the campaign trail, home minister Shah inaugurated the BJP Manipur Pradesh Thambal Shangle office, signalling the party’s resolve to fortify its grassroots presence in the region. This move underscored the BJP’s proactive stance in engaging with local communities and addressing their concerns, further bolstering its electoral prospects in Manipur.

Transitioning to Tripura, home minister Shah trained his sights on the Communist party, lambasting its track record of obstructing the state’s development and sowing discord among tribal communities. Drawing a sharp contrast between the neglect of the past and the promise of the present, HM Shah extolled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to honour local legends and uplift marginalised communities. Notable among these endeavours was the renaming of the Tripura International Airport in homage to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, a symbolic gesture of the government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage. “The Communist regime’s attempts to erase his name from the annals of history symbolise a broader narrative of cultural suppression and ideological hegemony. However, Prime Minister Modi’s decision to immortalise Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya by naming the Tripura International Airport after him marks a significant departure from the past.”, He said. Home minister Shah’s impassioned rhetoric resonated with the crowd as he recounted the transformative impact of PM Modi’s initiatives, particularly in empowering youth through access to education and employment opportunities. Highlighting the government’s increased allocation of funds for tribal welfare, former BJP president Shah underscored its unwavering commitment to prioritise the development of tribal areas in Tripura, a testament to its inclusive governance approach.

A defining moment in HM Shah’s address was his praise for the recent agreement with Tipra Motha, heralding it as a significant step towards fostering peace and harmony in Tripura. By acknowledging the contributions of Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Shah underscored the collaborative effort between the central and state governments in driving the development agenda forward.

In a stirring call to action, HM Shah urged the people of Manipur and Tripura to repose their faith in the BJP and its allies, citing their track record of delivering on promises and steering the region towards a brighter future. Home Minister Shah’s message struck a chord with voters, who saw in the BJP a beacon of hope for stability, respect, and equal opportunity.
