A young woman dermatologist from the United Kingdom has flown to Coimbatore to actively campaign for Tamil Nadu BJP leader and candidate K. Annamalai. Her decision underscores the strong support for the BJP and its leaders among the people.

Upon Annamalai’s announcement as the BJP candidate, Coimbatore saw jubilant celebrations, with cadres distributing sweets and lighting crackers in anticipation of victory. The following day, over 18,000 volunteers gathered in the city to canvass for Annamalai in the parliamentary elections, organized by the “Public for Annamalai” movement. The coordination of this effort is being overseen by Sudharshan, an organiser with Mark 1 Marriage and Event Management.

Expressing the overwhelming support for Annamalai, Sudharshan stated that thousands of individuals, who are apolitical and not affiliated with any party, eagerly volunteered to participate in the campaign. He coordinated their efforts by engaging over 7,000 willing volunteers, who expressed their availability and preferences for campaigning. Sudharshan noted with amazement that more than 20,000 volunteers responded positively to his outreach efforts.

Now, more than 18,000 workers, volunteers, and employees from various sectors including IT, banks, and others have taken leave to join the campaign efforts in Coimbatore. The city resonates with chants of “It’s our Kovai; it’s our Annamalai,” as over 12,000 party cadres gather in the Cotton City, known as the Manchester of South India, for campaigning. To ensure equal distribution, the party has limited the number of cadres in each of the 39 constituencies.

Amidst this enthusiasm, a London-based doctor named Dr. Sumathii has arrived in Coimbatore to support Annamalai’s campaign. Dr. Sumathii, a skin specialist, expressed her dedication, stating, “My husband and I work at the Royal London Hospital. I resigned from my job to come here and support Annamalai. We have immense love and affection for him. Jai Annamalai! Jai Modi sarkar!”

A significant shift has occurred in the campaign trail, with volunteers actively engaging in door-to-door visits to garner support for Annamalai. The campaign has gained momentum, drawing large crowds who eagerly welcome canvassers and pledge their votes to Annamalai. Union ministers, including PM Modi, are slated to visit the constituency, while Kollywood dance master Kala captivates audiences with her performances, adding a unique touch to the canvassing efforts.

These innovative methods resonate well with the masses, leading to a surge in support for Annamalai. Despite the scorching sun, dedicated cadres continue their ground-level campaigning, buoyed by favorable poll predictions. Annamalai has quickly risen to prominence in Tamil Nadu, earning a place in the hearts of many like revered film heroes MGR and Jayalalithaa. If he secures a spot in the union cabinet, as anticipated, it would further elevate his stature in the state.
