On March 29, tragedy struck when Anuja Raveendran, a 36-year-old teacher from Nooranad, Alappuzha, and Hashim Manzil Hashim, 35, from Charumoodu Palamel, Alappuzha, lost their lives in a collision between a car and a container lorry at Adoor Pattazhimukku in Pathanamthitta. What initially appeared as a fatal accident has now stirred controversy and speculation, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the unfortunate event, with suggestions that it might be connected to what some have labelled as “grooming jihad.”

Anuja, a dedicated teacher at North Thumpamon Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Pathanamthitta, was returning from an excursion to Thiruvananthapuram with her colleagues when the incident occurred. Her husband, a businessman from Kayamkulam, and their 11-year-old son now mourn her loss.

Meanwhile, Hashim, known for driving a private bus named Harishree, found himself entangled in the tragedy under mysterious circumstances.

As per a report by Hindu Post, Hashim forcibly took Anuja from her travel group after blocking their vehicle in Kulakkada, Kollam district. Despite her resistance and the intervention of her fellow teachers, Anuja was coerced into Hashim’s car. Eyewitnesses later reported that Hashim, allegedly intoxicated, drove recklessly, prompting concerns among those present.

The situation took a tragic turn when Hashim’s car collided head-on with a container lorry, resulting in a devastating wreck. Efforts by the fire brigade and locals were required to extricate the victims from the mangled vehicle. Eyewitness Shankar, a member of Enadimangalam gram panchayat, revealed disturbing details, suggesting that Anuja might have been subjected to physical assault within the moving car.

As investigations unfold, Hashim’s family refutes suggestions of foul play, insisting that their son, known for his involvement in public affairs, wouldn’t take his own life. However, revelations about Hashim’s social media interactions with Anuja, under the guise of a false identity as “Vishnu,” shed light on a potentially troubling aspect of their relationship. Family discord reportedly ensued due to this clandestine association.

The police are actively pursuing the case, gathering evidence, including CCTV footage, to unravel the circumstances leading to the tragic collision. Meanwhile, the community grapples with the loss of two lives and the unresolved questions surrounding the events that transpired on that fateful day.
