A case reminiscent of “The Kerala Story” has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district. Here, a Muslim girl stands accused of allegedly misleading a 15-year-old Hindu girl and subsequently absconding with her. Days later, the victim was discovered in the company of a 25-year-old named Rahisuddin. The event unfolded on March 6, leading to the apprehension of the two suspects by authorities, who have since filed a case in response.

The incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of the Sahibabad police station area in Ghaziabad. A Hindu woman residing in this locality lodged a police complaint on March 9, alleging that her 15-year-old daughter had been enticed away by a Muslim girl, their neighbour. The underage girl was found at Rahisuddin’s residence on March 8, two days after her mother initiated a search for her. Reportedly, the location is close to Mustafa Masjid, falling under the jurisdiction of the Sahibabad police station.

The mother urged the police to take decisive action against the perpetrators, who have been charged under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping. Subsequently, the minor underwent a medical examination. Hindu organisations emphasised the potential for additional individuals to be implicated in this case, suggesting that the number of sections in the First Information Report could be increased following the medical report and the girl’s statements.

According to the FIR, Hindu groups residing in Ghaziabad district are demanding severe repercussions for the perpetrators of this crime. They have also called for a thorough investigation at a high level, drawing parallels to “The Kerala Story.”

Sushil Saxena, the district head of the local Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Dharmaparavartana unit, shared comprehensive information with the media. He, along with Mamta Mittal, the district president of Vishva Hindu Parishad Matrashakti, informed us that they are maintaining constant communication with the girl’s family. They further disclosed that the accused girl was allegedly a friend of the victim and potentially a juvenile.

Sushil and Mamta reported that the Muslim acquaintance had previously taken the Hindu girl to her aunt’s house, where they spent a day before she was brought to Rahisuddin’s sister’s residence, where he was also present. Sushil Saxena mentioned that the girl was allegedly given an intoxicating substance, causing her to lose consciousness, after which she was purportedly sexually assaulted. However, he emphasised the necessity of a medical report to confirm the assault.

Sushil and Mamta additionally revealed that Rahisuddin’s aunt and sister were implicated in the crime. They alleged that his family members were already planning to assert Rahisuddin’s mental illness, drawing parallels to various terrorists. However, they assured that the victim’s family would receive full protection and legal assistance until the perpetrators are brought to justice.

In August 2023, Organiser reported a similar case from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal where a Dalit woman registered a complaint against one Anam Sheikh for forcing her to follow Islamic religious practices. Those include wearing Hijab and covering the head during Azan. She also accused one of Anam’s relatives, Hamid Miyan of assaulting her.

The Madhya Pradesh police booked both the accused under sections of the MP Freedom of Religion Act, SC-ST Act and other relevant charges.

In May 2023, Organiser reported a case from Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior where a Marathi Hindu family was struggling to get their daughter back, who had been radicalised by a Muslim friend.

The family told Organiser that their daughter Arti was tarped in fake love by Mohammad Aman Shah via her friend Shabana. Shabana taught Arti also Islamic practices like wearing Hijab, offering Namaz and others.

On the other hand, Aman posed as a Hindu but turned out to be a Muslim. He blackmailed her, forced her to sleep with his friends in exchange for money, thrashed her on the road, tried kidnapping her, extorted money, forced her to convert and whatnot?

Shockingly, Arti was radicalised to an extent that she wanted to withdraw her complaint against Aman.

Arti’s mother while speaking with this correspondent said, “Mam you know what these Muslims do to our girls, Arti should be happy that he is now in jail and that he will not be able to spoil someone else’s life. We don’t want our daughter to be chopped into 36 pieces”.

In May 2023, Organiser reported a case from Bhopal’s Berasiya area where the son of a Jain family became a member of an Islamic radical group Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT). He converted to Islam and changed his name from Sourabh Jain to Mohammad Saleem Jain, also got his wife converted to Islam, and his children were circumcised.

His father Dr Ashok Kumar Jain told Organiser that, he was radicalised after watching videos of banned Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. Sourabh used to tell his father that he should also convert to Islam or he will burn in Jahnnum.

After Sourabh converted to Islam, his family cut all ties with him. As of now, he is under arrest and has been booked under charges of NSA with the Freedom of Religion Act. Sourabh and other members of  HuT were arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad.

The HuT is a radical Islamic group banned in 16 nations, including China, Germany, Russia, Bangladesh and Turkey. The outfit’s aim is the re-establishment of the Islamic caliphate to unite Muslims and implement the Sharia globally.

Out of the sixteen arrested accused, five of the accused were converted from Hinduism to Islam, including Mohammad Salim (earlier Saurabh Raj Vaidya (Jain)), Abdur Rehman (earlier Devi Narayan Panda) and Mohammad Abbas Ali (earlier Benu Kumar). Five of the accused had married Hindu girls, with two of these men having converted to Islam only a few years ago.
